The Regional Meteorological Centre, India Meteorological
Department, Chennai in its bulletin cited, has stated that a Low
Pressure Area has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining
Andaman Sea and it is likely to move West-Northwestwards and
gradually concentrate into a Depression over central parts of South
Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move
West-Northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu coast: during
subsequent 3 days.
2) In this context, Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Warning has
been issued to several Districts
20-11-2022 |Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over
Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore districts.
21-11-2022 [Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at
isolated places over Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai
and Villupuram districts.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over
Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu,Chennai, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur,
Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, —Tiruvarur and
Nagapattinam districts.
22-11-2022 |Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at
isolated places over Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur and
Kancheepuram districts.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over
Chennai, Chengalpattu, _Villupuram, Cuddalore,
Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli,
Namakkal, Salem, —_Kallakurichi, Dharmapuri,
Krishnagiri, Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts.
3) Hence, the Principal Secretary / Commissioner, Greater
Chennai Corporation and District Collectors concerned are hereby
instructed to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures for
handling Disasters, gear up the entire District Machinery and take up
adequate preparedness measures so as to tackle any exigency in the
event of Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall.
