PASSIVE VOICE
Cómo usar voz pasiva en inglés o “passive voice” (voz pasiva):
Usamos la voz pasiva cuando queremos que el objeto sea más importante que la persona. También usamos la voz pasiva cuando
no conocemos qué o quién realizó la acción, o cuando queda claro o es obvio quién o qué realizó la acción.
Existe dos maneras de decir una oración y es mediante:

ACTIVE VOICE PASSIVE VOICE


Utilizamos un verbo activo para decir Utilizamos un verbo pasivo para
lo que el sujeto hace. decir lo que le ocurre al sujeto.
Somebody cleans my house every day. My house is cleaned every day.

Utilizamos “passive voice” cuando no es importante decir quién o que hizo la acción. Podemos utilizar “passive voice” en
diferentes tiempos.

Simple present
Somebody cleans this room every day: This room is cleaned every day.
English is spoken in many countries / Many accidents are caused by careless driving / Butter is made of milk /
Elections for presidents are held every five years / Tom gets a high salary now. He’s been promoted
Simple past
Somebody cleaned this room yesterday: This room was cleaned yesterday.
We were woken up by the noise / how much money was stolen / where were you born? / Nobody was injured in the
accident
Present continuous
Somebody is cleaning this room now: This room is being cleaned right now.
My computer is being used at the moment / Ana’s room is being redecorated / My car is being repaired in the garage.
Past continuous
Somebody was cleaning this room at 7 p.m. last night: This room was being cleaned at 7 p.m. last night.
Our conversation was being recorded at 8 o’clock last weekend.
Present perfect
Somebody has cleaned this room recently: This room has been cleaned recently.
A new hotel has been built near the airport recently / Andrea’s cellphone has been stolen / All the tickets for the
concert has been sold.
Will
Somebody will clean this room tomorrow: This room will be cleaned tomorrow.
My bedroom will be painted next weekend / Anthony will be picked up at the airport / The soccer game will be played
at the National Stadium tomorrow
Going to
Somebody is going to clean this room tonight: This room is going to be cleaned tonight.
The car is going to be repaired by the mechanic / the dog is going to be feed tomorrow / my homework is going to be
done by my brother.
Have to / Has to / Must
Somebody has to clean this room in the morning: This room has to be cleaned in the morning.
Something must be done before. it’s too late / This bill has to paid tomorrow / your room must be painted as soon as
possible.
Ing forms / infinitives
I don’t like people criticising me: I don’t like being criticised
The organisers want people to give feedback: the organisers want to be given feedback
