Narrative Report

“Be a vigilantes” calamities comes just like the thief in the night. No one can
predict it. Be prepared always. So let us all be vigilant. Teacher’s responsibilities is to
keep safe the welfare of his/her pupils. Like what Jamoyaon Elementary School
teachers did last September 9, 2021, we joined the 3 RD QUARTER NATIONWIDE
SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL inside our school. We followed the mechanics
given to us.
At exactly 9:00 o’clock in the morning, when the first 30–second alarm, we
started to seek shelter and protect ourselves wherever we were situated. We also
performed duck, cover and hold under desks, tables or chairs and remained in such
position until the shocking stop. And then, on the 20 -second lull period, we started to
evacuate from the room/ building to the designated evacuation areas. Our evacuation
would be in buddy –buddy and we would not run; we should not shout but we walked
faster than the normal walked we had.
As we performed the drill, we felt as it happened in reality. We behaved well and
follow what our school head instructed to us.
The third alarm which is 15-second, this signifies the occurrence of an
‘aftershock’. We teachers are still in their evacuation area and right after the
occurrence of the aftershock, our head teacher checked us if there were any sustained
injuries and if in case they have to report it to the Disaster Action Team (DAT). And
after checking and accounted all of us, the head teacher reports it to the DAT and the
team leader gave the ‘ALL CLEAR SIGNAL’, this signifies the termination of the
earthquake drill. The teachers successfully returned to their respective rooms.
