Mary Harman, a veteran Human Resource Manager for 10 years in Pharmaceutical business

decided to change company for good. She not only got the skills but also the experience, making her
qualified for a Human Resource Manager position at a renowned real estate developer. For 62 years, the
company has withstood different struggles and the test of time. Company A, a trusted real estate
developer for 62 years recently won the Best Investment Property Awards, this enticed May Harman to
move to the company.

In Company A , Mary is required to handle two major hubs. These hubs are strategically located
on Cebu City and Davao City. This job requires her to travel from Cebu and Mindanao on weekly bases.
She handles 81 employees in Visayas and another 89 in Mindanao. An Assistant HR Manager often
handles her work whenever she’s not around in Mindanao. This Assistant Manager takes orders directly
from her when she is in the Cebu Hub.

Mary, as an HR Manager for both Visayas and Mindanao reports directly to Manila. They call
themselves the Support for the Cluster that is assigned here in Visayas and Mindanao. They act as the
conduit for special functions, and so they act as the “Mini ME’s” of the people in the Company A’s office
in Manila. Shared Services Managers in Manila offers their services to the different clusters in the
Philippines. There are currently four clusters or major hubs that the companies have, two in Luzon
located in Manila, one in Visayas located In Cebu, and another in Mindanao located in Davao. Mary is
required to report to her boss and cluster head in order to make a decision.
