Homework-Frankenstein

In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley retells the story of Prometheus but
in a different style. Mary suggests and tells that when humans try and overthrow the natural
order of things, there will be devastating repercussions for their actions.
From the moment when the reader is put face to face with the Victor s creature, or
more like a monster. From the beginning, Shelly make sure to shows that, the creature, go
against the natural order of things. Even before the birth of the monster, Victor phrases that
what he does is against the rules of nature, his words being: ”infuse a spark of being into this
lifeless ting”, giving life being rather impossible for a human.
After the creatures comes to life, Victor starts to be aware of his creation and the
grotesque, horrid and wretch aspect that the monster has, ”dull yellow eye”, ”yellow skin”,
”watery eyes” and a ”shriveled complexion”, a frightening image for the readers, and a reality
for the creator of this abomination, Victor.
Victor is shocked at the sight of the creature, but more than that he is disgusted by this
abomination, he says ”horror and disgust filled my heart”, the creator being unable to keep his
gaze the monster. The creature starts to act and is aware of Victor s thoughts about him,
having quite an negative response. This part shows again that even the creator who violated
the natural order of things is aware that is was a mistake, a catastrophe.
After all this, it finally came the time, for Victor, to meet the consequences of playing
with the natural order, he loses everything he loves, his brother, his friend and the last and not
the least, his beloved wife, all of them died at the hands of his creation, a monster that should
not have been created.
