Impromptu speech patterns
Learn to apply proven techniques

‣ PREP – Position, Reason, Example, Position

‣ AIDA – Attention, Interest, Desire, Action

‣ SMG – Story, Message, Gain (Benefit)

‣ PPF – Past, Present, Future

‣ F&A – For and Against (with option to decide)

PREP
Used when you are given a situation or quote or asked your opinion

‣ State your Point or Position (Opening)

‣ Give a Reason for your position (Body)

‣ Illustrate your position with an Example (Body)

‣ Restate your Position with conviction (Closing)

‣ Bonus: add a Call to Action

Example of PREP

Q: Is thin crust pizza

better than thick crust?
P: I believe that thin crust pizza is better than thick crust.

R: Why? Because thin crust pizza bakes quicker and is more energy
efficient.

E: People often say that time is money - and nowhere is this more so
than the pizza delivery business.

Faster in and out of the oven means:

- faster to the consumer - giving greater customer satisfaction,

- greater throughput of pizzas per oven, and

- less flour consumed per pizza - both increasing profitability.

P: So thin crust pizza is better for the consumer and better for business.

CTA: I encourage you to order one and judge for yourself!
