Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, let us try to picture out the claims and crucial information

presented by our group that proves how harmful it is to legalize abortion in the Philippines.
Before I start with my summarization I would like to rebut the government’s claim stating that

______________

Now, we have showed our first argument which is “the life begins at conception”, making
abortion murder. Human life begins when a sperm cell fertilizes an egg cell, which begins the
process of cell division. Ending a life is murder legally and ethically, even a life that is only a few
growing cells at the time of death. As Pope Francis explained, “abortion is murder, those who
carry out abortions kill… at the third week after conception, often even before the mother is
aware of being pregnant, all the organs are already starting to develop. It is a human life. And
this must be respected. It is very clear … Scientifically, it is a human life. Abortion is just an
intentional killing of a human being. Even though people may face struggles and difficulties in
life and their choice is to abort the child, it doesn’t still excuse the idea that she commits
murder. Honestly, we cannot solve the problem of injustice against women with more
injustices. We need solutions that support women without killing fetuses.

Our second argument is, abortion is a sign of a throwaway culture, it promotes a culture in
which life is disposable or unnecessary. People throw foods and other objects, but it is just
awful that these are not just the things people throw away, they throw away human beings.
They labeled those humans being discarded as “not needed or unnecessary”. Just imagine how
heart wrenching it is to think that there are a lot of children being victims of abortion who will
never see the lights of the sun. T

Third argument, increased access to birth control, health insurance and sexual education would
make abortion unnecessary. Abortion was a popular means of birth control and family planning
due to a lack of reliable contraception, education and other resources and the fact that
childbirth was incredibly dangerous. In the Philippines women can access to better healthcare
and effective birth control to ensure an unwanted pregnancy does not happen in the first place.
The responsible parenthood and reproductive health act of 2012 on the RH law is a
groundbreaking law that ensures that all individuals, even those from underprivileged
communities have unrestricted access to practically all contemporary contraception at
government health facilities. Now, lets move to the fourth argument presented by the team,
abortion goes against the laws of our land.

Because abortion is against the constitution and is therefore prohibited by our country’s
fundamental rules, we are unable to support it . Abortion has been illegal in the Philippines
since the year 1930. Anyone who performs an abortion is considered to have committed a
crime, regardless of whether it was done on purpose or accidentally. In the Philippines, the
doctors and midwives who perform aboetions may be accused of a crime that carries a
maximum sentence of 6 years in jail, Under the Revised Penal Code.

We have our fifth claim that states abortion may lead to future medical problems for the
mother. There are certain risks associated with either medical or surgical abortion and in all the
instances the life of a woman is at risk. According to study published by the Internationl journal
of epidemiology in June 2003 “induced abortion by vacuum aspiration Is associated with an
increased risk of first trimester pregnancy. Furthermore, there are about 1,000 filipino women
die each year from abortion complications, which contributes to the nation’s high maternal
mortality rate. Projections that were based on data from 2000 indicate that 100,000 women
were hospitalized for abortion complications in 2012; countless others suffered complications
that went untreated.

Lastly,
Now, how can we possible allow abortion to be legalized in the country when at the very first
place it promotes a culture wherein life is just considered as disposable? We throw away
humans as if they do not have a life and the privilege to breathe the fresh air or witness the
wonders of the earth. Pope Francis in 2014 condemned “ the throwaway culture” , he states in
Jan. 2014 that what is thrown away is not just foods and dispensable objects, but often human
beings themselves who are discarded as unnecessary. How can we be so immoral? How can you
peacefully sleep at night bringing the fact that you have killed an innocent child? We know that
there are medical techniques used for abortion and we know that these procedures is not as
kind as we imagined. One of these techniques is the “dilation and evacuation” used to abort
unborn children up to 24 weeks, uses forceps with sharp metal jaws to grasp parts of the
developing baby, which are then twisted and torn away.

Legalizing abortion is not really an option when it can lead to complications and problems to
the mother. The criminalization of abortion has not prevented abortion, but instead has made
the procedure unsafe and deadly for the over half a million women each year who try to
terminate their pregnancies. In the cases of medical abortion, the woman might end up having
some uterine ruptures and tis must follow a series of check – ups by the doctor. A 2013 Chinese
study that was peer-reviewed and published in the Indian Journal of Cancer found an
association between breast cancer and induced abortion. Abortion is strongly connected with
an increased risk of breast cancer and the risk of breast cancer increases as the number of
abortions increases, according to the study from Feb 2014 that was peer reviewed and
published in cancer causes and control.
