(PART – A)
Answer the questions of the following in brief (Each question carries 10 marks ) (60 marks)
Question No. 1: Discuss the classification of plates and assumption made in the analysis of thin plates with small
deflections ?
Question No.3: Develop the general differential equations of equilibrium for cylindrical shell loaded
symmetrically loaded with reference to its axis. Use Membrane Theory.
Question No.4: Apply the result of the above case in Q. 13 for a pipe filled with liquid and simply supported at
the ends to find membrane forces.
Question No.5: Derive the equations of equilibrium for symmetrically loaded shells of revolution using membrane
theory.
Question No.6: Briefly Explain the Navier solution from simply supported rectangular plate . Thus obtain the
expression for maximum deflection in S.S. rectangular plate under UDL over the entire surface.
(PART – B)
Answer the following questions in detail (Each question carries 20 marks) ( 40 marks)
Question No. 1: Derive the differential equation of symmetric bending of laterally loaded circular plate.
Question No. 2: Develop the equilibrium equations for shells of revolution and loaded symmetrically with
reference to its axis by bending theory.
