Professional Ethics and Codes of Conduct

Good morning/afternoon/evening, ladies and gentlemen. First of all, let me thank you
all for coming here today. Let me introduce myself. I’m ..............................................
I’m Head /Director/CEO of ...(NOT A STUDENT)..... here at .....(company)................
Today’s topic is .................................................................................................................
The topic is very important for us because
.....................................................................… By the end of this talk, you will be
familiar with concepts such as ...(key words).......... I’ve divided my presentation into
three parts. I’ll start off by ..(defining, describing, introducing, presenting,
explaining, etc.)………………………………………………………………………
Then, I’ll move onto ………..................................................................
I’ll end with …………………………………………………………………….
My talk should take about 10 minutes and then we will have time for some questions.

To begin with I´d like to give a definition of professional ethics. They are principles
that govern the behaviour of a person or group in a business environment. Like values,
professional ethics provide rules on how a person should act towards other people and
institutions in such an environment.

Unlike values, professional ethics are often codified as a set of rules, which a particular
group of people use. This means that all those in a particular group will use the same
professional ethics, even though their values may be unique to each person. The Code is
an example of a codified set of professional ethics for those who choose to enter the
immigration advice profession.
