14 July 2016 – Course Timetable and Activity/Reading Log in LMG03 1

14 July 2016 (Thursday)

TO: MY LMG03 STUDENTS

RE: Course Timetable and Activity/Reading Log in LMG03
FR: Atty. Harriet Reyes Linsangan

TO MY DEAR STUDENTS:

Please take note of the following schedule of reading assignments and related activities for our
course. The basic reason why the schedule is given to you in advance is to give you a bird’s eye
view of the course load and to allow you sufficient time to prepare, comply with course
requirements, and organize your readings, while finding time for other equally important academic
and personal undertakings. Plan every minute of your time wisely.

“There’s never enough time to do all the nothing you want.”

- Bill Watterson

“The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.

I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”
- Jack London

“When you kill time, remember that it has no resurrection.”

- A.W. Tozer

“I don’t believe in worrying. It’s a waste of energy.”

- Malinda Lo

“There are far too many people that waste their time telling themselves that they don’t have enough time.”
- Daniel Willey

“Time cannot be saved, it can only be spent, and if not spent wisely and well, it is wasted.”
- Henrietta C. Mears

“We never shall have any more time. We have, and we have always had, all the time there is.”
- Arnold Bennett

 END OF SEMESTER 

 STANDING ACTIVITY REMINDERS:

You are hereby notified of the conduct of the following evaluative activities for our course this
semester, unless special announcements are otherwise made:

 An individual quiz will be given every other week, as above-scheduled with the stated
coverage, to test whether you are updated in all the reading assignments, and have understood
and mastered the same in preparation for the major examinations.

 In all other sessions of the week, any of the following unannounced activities or assessments
may be given, whether individually, or as and for a group, as additional basis for the evaluation of
your performance in this course:
14 July 2016 – Course Timetable and Activity/Reading Log in LMG03 7

(a) Individual written recitation.  You will be given a five-item quiz, each of which will be
worth six (6) points – a total of 30 points. The coverage for this activity will include only
reading assignments for the session on which this activity is given.

The table of equivalents for obtaining a grade for this activity is outlined below, to wit:

TABLE OF PERCENTAGE EQUIVALENTS

FOR A 30-ITEM WRITTEN RECITATION

SCORE EQUIVALENT SCORE EQUIVALENT

0 45% 19-20 75%
1-4 50% 21-22 80%
5-7 55% 23-24 85%
8-10 60% 25-26 90%
11-14 65% 27-28 95%
15-18 70%   29-30 99%

(b) Group written recitation.  One or some members of a group will be made to take an
evaluation. His/her/their score will be considered the score for each and every member
of the group, to be computed as part of the special project for class standing.

(c) Group quiz.  A group will be made to take an evaluation the questions of which they
will be made to answer as a team. The total score for the activity will be recorded as
the score for each and every member of the group, to be computed as part of the
special project for class standing.

 Individual Oral Recitation.  Individual oral recitation will be conducted every day. Although
not graded, this activity will allow students to develop the skill of verbally expressing themselves. It
will also allow me to gauge whether a student has made his readings, and how well he
comprehends them.

Please be guided accordingly.

Thank you.

“You can get discouraged many times,

but you are not a failure until you begin to blame somebody else and stop trying.”
- John Burroughs

“When discouraged some people will give up, give in or give out far too early.
They blame their problems on difficult situations, unreasonable people or their own inabilities.”
When discouraged other people will push back that first impulse to quit,
Push down their initial fear, push through feelings of helplessness and push ahead.
They’re less likely to find something to blame and more likely to find a way through.
