Ultimate DP Troubleshooting Questions & Solutions

I’ve included this document to help out those of you who

may have questions about running the Ultimate Digital Performer
Learning Series Video:

Q: What are the System Requirements for running

the Ultimate Digital Performer Learning Series Video? A:
You will need a PC or Apple Computer with a DVD-ROM drive run-
ning the latest version of the Apple QuickTime software.

Q: Can I play this on a standard DVD drive on my

Television? A: No, this is a DVD-9 format disc that can only be
played on a DVD-ROM of a computer.

Q: I am having trouble playing back the video

smoothly. A: This is usually attributed to a slow DVD drive. If
this is the case, try copying the contents of the DVD onto your
computer and play it from your hard drive, as this will play the
video and audio more efficiently.

Q: The audio on the Volume 2 video sounds

slightly different than the Volume 1 video. A: In order for us
to fit such large and high-resolution videos on this DVD, we had
to slightly sacrifice the fidelity of the audio on the second part by
compressing it at a higher rate than Volume 1. This should not
affect the information in anyway and should be perfectly legible.

Q: Is the Volume 2 video, that was recorded in DP

version 5.12, still relevant to DP version 6? A: While there
are a few enhancements (all of which are explained in the Volume
1 video), and a slightly revised look to version 6 - there is not a
complete overhaul of the functions in version 5.12. So Volume
2 can be used interchangeably with both versions of DP.
Q: The video looks jagged when I jump from loca-
tion to location within the Quicktime window. A: This may
occur if you are performing extreme jumps with the playback
wiper on the QuickTime window. I would recommend using the
actual transport controls on the QT window for smoothest
playback:
