CHAPTER OVERVIEW OF E-COMMERCE WEBSITE
1.1
Introduction
This e-commerce website project the detail planning of
ecommerce website. It is complete project development
lifecycle includes feasibility of the system, testing techniques
required to implement for timely delivery of the system. This
report focuses main on the methodology of the software
development life cycle for an e-commerce website. It is a
researched document within given criterion. The point of view
used in this report as a project manager that focuses mainly on
planning of project to execute in proper way. This document
contains the basic requirements to formulate project, approval
and all regarding management of the project.
1.2 Objectives
At present, E-Commerce is the most vast and popular
business sector. It’s an online buying and selling process
so its needs are as simple as the business means.
Customer reaching, High Sales, Products quality and on
time delivery are some of the needs of any E-commerce
business. And when we talk about its objectives so
• High Reachability
- The main objective and at the same time need is
traction on your web store. if you are selling products
online what you require are customers. If you are getting
good reachability then business will definitely grow.
• High Conversions
- if people are coming on web store and purchasing
something thenit will calculate as conversions and from
the number of people who are buying stufffrom web
store we can calculate the conversion rate.
Customer satisfaction-Customer is the main
part of any E-commerce business so itsvery important to
make customer happy and satisfied. By providing quality
and desirable products, on time delivery, 24*7 customer
support, and timely sale & best deal offers can make
customer happy.

Unless and until we are not famous and popular among
people we cannot establish our brand. social presence
with Omni channel & Digital marketing is essential for
any E-commerce business.
1.3 Advantages of online shopping
Due to rapid growth of technology, business
organizations have switched over from the traditional
method of selling goods to electronic method of selling
goods. Business organizations use internet as a main
vehicle to conduct commercial transactions. Online
stores do not have space constraints and a wide variety
of products can be displayed on websites. It helps the
analytical buyers to purchase a product after a good
search.
• Comparisons
Companies display the whole range of products offered
by them to attract customers with different tastes and
needs. This enables the buyers to choose from a variety
of models after comparing the finish, features and price
of the products on display . Availability of online shop

a barrier, wherever the vendor and buyers are.
1.5 Limitations
Ease of use is the prime reason that the success of
ecommerce. Though internet provides a quick and easy
way to purchase a product, some people prefer to use
this technology only in a limited way. They regard
internet as a means for gathering more information
about a product before buying it in a shop .Some people
also fear that they might get addicted to online shopping
.The major limitations of online shopping are as follows.
• Delay in delivery
Long duration and lack of proper inventory management
result in delays in shipment. Though the duration of
selecting, buying and paying for an online product may
not take more than 15 minutes; the delivery of the
product to customers doorstep takes about 1-3 weeks.
This frustrates the customer and prevents them from
shopping online.
• Lack of significant discounts in online shops
Step 2:
User can find product according to the category.
The product is managed according to the category.

It can search the product from the overall catalogue.

For a chosen product, user click on it, a page is open
with the detail description of the product.

If user wish to buy a product, app system will take it to
the shopping cart. If user is not sign in the system then it
is required to sign in first.

If user is new to system then he will have to follow a
sign up procedure.

After sign in & Authentication, user can choose to buy
more, manage cart and payment & delivery option.
2.4 Description of Project:
This is a small project for Online Shopping System. The basic idea is that
the customers can buy products using online. And the administrator can
enter the name and generate the receipt of the purchased product and
the administrator can also view the yearly, monthly, and daily reports
of the products. This project is an attempt to provide the advantages of
online shopping to customers of a real shop. It helps buying the
products in the shop anywhere through internet by using an android
device. Thus, the customer will get the service of online shopping and
home delivery from his favorite shop. This system can be implemented
to any shop in the locality or to multinational branded shops having
retail outlet chains. The central concept of the application is to allow
the customer to shop virtually using the Internet and allow customers
to buy the items and articles of their desire from the store. The
information pertaining to the products are stores on the MySQL
database. The Server process the customers and the items are shipped
to the address submitted by them. The system was designed
into two modules, first is administrator who maintains and updates the
information of the product. And the second is customer who wish to
buy products. Order which are placed by the customer, will store into
the database and according to the order detail, bill will be generated
and the payment will be paid by the customer. According to our system,
administrator can view the different records of the products, orders, bill
details and the payments. Like, year wise order details, day wise placed
orders, maximum pay mode used by customers , over all order details ,
etc.

Stored Procedures : (1). This procedure will insert the product details
into the ‘order_detail’ table. Only those customer can add the data
who has placed the order.
2) . This procedure will generate the bill of a
customer based on the products.
3 ) .This procedure will display the year wise
order details to the administrator.
(4). This procedure will display the customer id
wise bill detail to the customer.
(5). This procedure will take bill id and the payment mode
input from the customer and according to that insert the data
into the payment table and according to the bill total amount ,
offer discount will be generated and display the final amount.
