Here are the review of chapters 1-5

Chapter 1
Holden first reveals in the first chapter of Catcher of the Rye that his brother sold out to
Hollywood, which is why he became bitter. And also at Pencey Prep he fail four out of
five subjects. Chapter one also reveals that The fencing team's manager, Holden, had
no desire to see the yearly rivalry game between the school which is Pencey Prep and
Saxon Hall.
Chapter 2
In this chapter, He pays Mr. Spencer, his teacher, a farewell visit. Despite the fact that
he failed his course, he respects him and wants to part ways respectfully.
Chapter 3
Holden's illusions are more about self-delusion than convincing others to believe his
lies.
Chapter 4
Holden's character is revealed to be a bit of a liar and loving fantasy, but also exhibits a
certain amount of kindness towards others.
Chapter 5
Holden's parents weren't able to comprehend the profound loss he was going through
and were more worried about the fact that he had broken the glass in the garage. His
descriptions about Allie and how he felt when Allie passed away provide the reader an
understanding of the depth of Holden's grief.
