Chapter 2 communication process

COMMUNICATION PROCESS:
Steps taken for a successful communication. Dynamic method Is used in such
process
1. Sender: a person that is going to be transmitting a particular message
and decides what to communicate. It may be verbal, nonverbal or visual.
The sender is also known as the encoder and in charge of encoding a
message to make it as easy as he can for the receiver
2. Encoding: it is not only determining what it is that you are going to say
but how you are going to communicate it. Including the nonverbal
communication. Things like body language. The goal of the sender
should be to communicate as accurately as possible and this is only
possible when a sender encodes the message keeping in view the
education, background and desires of the receiver
3. Message: it is a necessary part of a communication it is the information
which is being transferred from sender to the receiver. It can be verbal,
nonverbal or visual. Letter, gestures, speech etc are involved
4. Channel: it is used as a medium in transmitting the message. Channel
includes face to face conversation, email, letters etc. the channel
depends on the nature of message e.g. if it’s a formal message suitable
medium like email is used whereas for an informal conversation
WhatsApp is most commonly used app.
5. Receiver: the person who accepts the message it can be in a way of
reading, listening etc. the receiver is also called the decoder
6. Decoding: the process when the receiver reads the message and
translates it into meaningful information.
7. Feedback: the receiver’s response is called the feedback. It is the final
step in any communication where the receiver sends its feedback to the
sender. This step identifies whether the communication was successful
or not.
