6 Selecting and Evaluating Digital Tools & Resources - collaborate with teachers
and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources for accuracy,
suitability, and compatibility with the school technology infrastructure.

In ITEC 7445, I worked to research and evaluate emerging technology. The artifact
I selected is Evaluating an Emerging Technology Presentation. I evaluated Google
Expeditions for use in different content areas. The presentation shares the results of
the findings for how the technology could support teaching and learning.

The artifact demonstrates my ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators to

evaluate digital tools and resources by making sure the ET is compatible to the school
technology infrastructure and meets the district vision plan. The artifact demonstrates
the ability to evaluate digital tools for suitability by examining appropriateness of use
by age and for diverse learners.

In completing this artifact, I learned that schools pay exorbitant fees for emerging
technologies. I also learned emerging technologies may or may not be successful,
because of this the funds put into these programs could potentially be a waste/loss.
During creating my artifact, I learned how my school lost revenue by investing in a
program and devices that ceased to exist. To improve this artifact, I would research
how to select better technology and determine if the technology is more likely to
last and not just a trend.

The work that went into creating this artifact improved faculty development
through BLAST team collaboration over emerging technology. The impact can be
assessed through analysis of the BLAST team’s meeting minutes, research of the
emerging technology, and collected results of the research. Impact could be
assessed through survey collection.
