RIDDLES
What is riddle?
 It is a question, puzzle, a phrase, or statement devised to get unexpected or clever answer.
 It is usually a question or statement that has multiple meanings and that needs to be
solved. It can be funny or it is like a puzzle that you are trying to solve. It can be simple
or complex it is still up to the creator
If you can still remember your elementary days, some of you may enjoyed making their own
riddles. Even right now I know some may but we really have to create one. But we really have to
bear in mind that we should first understand how a riddle works and what the steps in creating
one are.
Steps in Creating Riddles
1. Come up with n answer to your riddle.
Your student should come up with the answer first. You have to ask them to think of
an answer or a topic in order for them to know what their riddle is going to be about.
Ex.
Ask them to think of a topic about animals or things and write it down.
2. Long riddle or short riddle?
After letting them think of an answer ask them and make them choose if they want a
short or long riddle.
3. Create a list
Once your student have their answer to their riddle create a list of what their answer
does or things that describe it.
Ex.
Your answer is a box, you could say it is brown, square, holds things comes in all
sizes and travels round the world.
4. Draft your riddle
After your students making list describing their topic, it is time for them to draft their
riddles. The best type of riddle use simple strong words in the riddle.
Ex.
What has hands, but can’t clap?
The answer is clock (The hands move around to tell the time but of course they can’t
clap
5. Share your riddle
Now that your students have created a riddle, t is time for them to share it in the class.
