Tribal Situation in India

( FC 1- Component 2 Modules)

“Tribal Situation in India” is taught as part of the FC 1-Component 2 modules.

These modules are in two parts.
i) Uderstanding the category/concept of Tribe in India in the pre-independent( colonial) and the
post- independent( politico-administrative) India, the administartion of tribal areas like 5 th and 6th
scheduled areas, diversities among the tribal populations.
ii) Issues and challenges of Tribes from the Isolation- Integration- Assimilation framework and the
negotiations and the assertion by the tribes.
