SUBJECT: IMAGE NOT COMPLETELY TRANSFERRED ONTO PAPER

 EXPIRATION
This is to announce the expiration of the information originally delivered in this bulletin. Considering the
length of time that has elapsed since August 2011 when the modification of the Guide Plate was originally
implemented, it is expected that the Guide Plate of the previous type (D0742195) is no longer used in the
field and the requested actions have been completed. Please see TSB# D074/D075/M044 – 049 for revised
information regarding Troubleshooting Non-Printed White Areas.

SYMPTOM:
The image is not completely transferred onto the paper resulting in a void area. The non-printed image area
is located on the trailing edge of the 2nd side when printing duplex on A3/DLT. The symptom occurs within
approximately the first 30 printouts, when running the machine after a long break while the internal
temperature is still low. In addition, the symptom may also occur after recovering from a jam if the machine is
run in a low temp/humidity environment.

CAUSE:
Condensation from the paper builds up on the Fuser Exit Guide Plates after passing through the Fuser.

SOLUTION:
As a countermeasure, a new style Guide Plate has been created with ribs to help prevent condensation build
up. See photos below. To determine which units require the new style Guide Plates, see Units Affected:

Installation:
During installation perform the following:
1. At installation, please check whether the three Guide Plates of Fusing Unit are old style or ones that
have received the countermeasure. Reference the photos above.
Old style parts have no ribs on the Guide Plate.
Parts that have received the countermeasure have some ribs on the Guide Plate.
2. If it is determined that the Guide Plates are the original style, a countermeasure kit is available, TCRU Kit
B (Fuser Assembly). To obtain the TCRU Kit B, follow the IMPORTANT instructions on page 2. Replace
the original Guide Plates with the countermeasure Guide Plates using the Replacement Procedure
starting on page 3.

Service Visit:
At the next service call on the affected mainframe SNs (Refer to Units Affected), inspect the Guide Plates of
the Fusing Unit to determine if the Plates are the “Original” or the “New” type based on the photos provided
on page1. If the unit contains the “Original” type (without Ribs), a countermeasure kit is available, TCRU Kit
B (Fuser Assembly). To obtain the TCRU Kit B, follow the IMPORTANT instructions below. Replace the
original Guide Plates with the countermeasure Guide Plates using the Replacement Procedure starting on
page 3.

NOTE: The Fusing Guide Plates contained in TCRU Kit B should also be inspected and upgraded if
necessary.

IMPORTANT:
The updated Fusing Guide Plates are provided as a Kit (P/N: D0749901) and is available at no charge.
Please follow the instructions below to obtain the replacement parts.

adjustment below:
Adjustments to Maintain Optimum Internal Temperature
The following adjustments are to be made if the problem persists even when installed with the modified
Guide Plates.
【Adjustment 1】
a. Set the timer to run the machine idle for 30 min.
b. Change the “Fuser Reload Time”: 280s → 500s
c. Change the “Rotation After Reload Time”: 300s → 999s
d. Time before entering “Auto off/Low power/Energy save” modes: 240 min
【Adjustment 2】 “a~d” + “e”
e. Change the standby rotation temp: 120 degrees → 150 degrees

NOTE: This setting will rotate the Fuser more frequently and possibly shorten the Fuser’s life.
