1. Do you believe in what the Spanish conquistadors said that pre-colonial Filipinos have
no idea of science processes when they came to the Philippine islands? Explain you answer.
• I believe that the phrase "we have no knowledge of Science" was coined by the Spanish
colonizers. It's not that before the Spanish colonists came, we Filipinos didn't truly understand
science. I do think that science has advanced since then, since food fermentation is an example of
a scientific concept.

2. If the idea of science and technology was already present even during the precolonial times,
what are the evidences that can prove this claim? List down at least 3 examples that will
support your claim and explain each answer.
• Early Filipinos were engaged in a wide range of activities, including agriculture, boatbuilding,
weaving cotton, and creating glass ornaments. Early Filipinos also worked in the extraction,
smelting, and refinement of iron, as well as engaged in trade with Vietnam and China.

3. What can you say about the science education in the Philippines in terms of the curriculum
and the way it is taught in our country during the Spanish Regime?
• Many new developments and advancements were produced with the goal of bettering the life of
the indigenous people as well as the general population.

4. What made the science education in the Spanish regime relevant during its time? In addition,
what made it irrelevant?
• Filipinos were among the most educated people in Asia by the time the United States took over
as the colonial authority from Spain. During the colonial era, the first colleges, universities, and
vocational schools were founded. The first contemporary public education system in Asia was
formed in 1863.

curriculum and the way it is taught in our country during the First Republic?
• The country's educational system dates back to the 19th century with the creation of the
Universidad Literaria de Filipinas in 1898.

6. What can you say about the science education in the Philippines in terms of the
curriculum and the way it is taught in our country during the American period?
• Science and technology in the Philippines advanced rapidly during the American rule, especially
through the establishment of science-based public services. The government's encouragement of a
comprehensive public education system led to the creation of universities and research institutes
for scientists, engineers, and other professionals.

7. What can you say about the science education in the Philippines in terms of the
curriculum and the way it is taught in our country during the Commonwealth era?
• Other governmental organizations, like the National Economic Council, National Power
Corporation, National Development Company, and National Abaca and Other Fibers Corporation
were established.

8. In which post-colonial era did the science and technology given more priority and flourished?
- POST-COMMONWEALTH ERA The prominence of science increased during Ferdinand
Marcos' presidency of the Philippines in the 1970s.

9. Given the support and attention the government is giving science and technology today,
do you think we are doing better as compared to the other eras in the history of the
Philippines? Explain your answer.
• In the 21st century, we have more technologies and machinery than in previous periods. This is
due to the fact that in today's fast-paced society, life without technology is useless. We must
emphasize the advantages of technology as it develops and continues to make our lives easier.
