FIELD STUDY 2 LEARNING EPISODE 8:

ESTABLISHING MY OWN CLASSROOM ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES IN A FACE-TO-

FACE/REMOTE LEARNING
Name: Mark Gerald P. Lagran
Year and Course: BSEd – Social Studies IV
Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of this Learning Episode, I must be able to:
1. stablish my classroom routines and procedures before, during and after classes in a face-to-
face or in remote learning
2. explain the classroom routines (what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and why those need to
be done).
3. reflect on the basic questions when building my classroom routines and procedures in the
classroom and in remote learning.
4. list down some possible topics for action research on classroom routines and procedures.
5. use professional reflections and learning to improve practice.

CLARIFY YOUR TASK

 ESTABLISHING MY OWN CLASSROOM ROUTINES AND
PROCEDURES (FACE-TO-FACE OR REMOTE LEARNING)

Routines are the backbones of daily classroom life. They facilitate teaching and learning. Routines
don’t just make the life of the teacher easier. They save valuable classroom time. Efficient routines make it
easier for students to learn and achieve more.
Establishing routines early in the school year enables you to run your daily activities run smoothly;
ensures that you manage time effectively; helps you maintain order in the classroom; makes you more
focused in teaching because you spend less time in giving directions/instructions; enables you to explain
to the learners what are expected of them.
Classroom routines set the foundation for a meaningful school year with teachers and students
whether in the classroom or remotely. To teach classroom routines remotely, it is best to record videos
and to post these in the learning management system so students may watch them over and over again
for better retention and for families to view them so they can assist their children when needed.
Students can take an active role in establishing classroom routines. They can brainstorm on
ideas which they will most likely do and follow. Routines are important especially when done in remote
learning so that there will be less distractions both for synchronous and asynchronous participation.

PARTICIPATE AND ASSIST:

To ensure that I can carry out/perform my tasks efficiently and effectively in participating and
assisting my cooperating teacher in establishing routines and procedures, in the classroom or in
remote learning, I must be guided by the following questions:
1. How will I gain student attention in the classroom/remote learning?
Students in virtual classrooms can use the school's preferred learning management system to
participate in classroom activities. They can also take part in virtual meetings. I believe it will
stimulate the students' interest because they do not have the bodily sensation that they do when
things are normal.

2. What are the routines and procedures that I need to establish before, during and after my class
whether on a face-to-face or remote learning?
 Before: Entering the virtual class should be on time. Practicing punctuality.
 Before: Modules and syllabus can be available of the learning management system (LMS), in google
classroom for example.
 During: Attendance (must have the automatic attendance to track the students if they went in or out
during class hours.)
 During: Opening cameras for those who can and turning off or muting microphone.
 During: Raising hands virtually if they have questions or if they want to have the permission to speak.
 After: Assignments, activities, project, can be turn in or submit into the classroom stream (for example,
google classroom stream)
 After: Turning in their activities and assignments on time. If they submit early, an extra point will be
added.

3. What verbal and non-verbal communication will I use to signal that students need help/attention
in the classroom/remote learning?
When talking verbally, as a student-teacher, I should use an acceptable voice and language that are
easily understood by the pupils. I believe that showing emotion to the students is important for
nonverbal communication because it helps them trust me and create relationships with me.
4. How must students get/secure the need work materials and books and others in the
classroom/remote learning?
They should be told about where they can get their modules or resources, so we can set up an
online classroom where they can get them quickly.

5. How will students transition to group work and other cooperative activities in the
classroom/remote learning?
Because we are now in a virtual classroom, I believe kids will be able to participate in a range of
cooperative activities thanks to various online technology and applications, as well as the teacher's
participation and effort. Students can also use the LMS to upload their work. Rubrics are also
useful for ensuring that the activity or project is rated in accordance with the stated criteria.

6. What procedures must be followed by students who need to attend to personal necessities in the
classroom/remote learning?
Students have too many options for when, where, and how they study, whether it's online or in a
regular classroom, thanks to convenience and flexibility. Consider the following procedures, which
must be followed by every student: • Create a Studying Workspace that Is Effective • Ensure that
the space is welcoming • Make a Timetable • Maintain your organization • Create a Schedule

7. What rules must be set for students who finish task early/and for those who cannot complete
work on time?
Students who finish their assignment early should receive extra or plus points in the activity or
activity that has been assigned to them, whereas students who fail to submit on time should
receive minus points, depending on how late they are. They may be exempt from punishment if
the reasons are sufficient.

8. What procedures must be observed for tardiness/early dismissals?

The most effective way to deal with tardiness is to utilize rational consequences. These are
reasonable consequences of behavior since they solve the problem as quickly as feasible. They do
not mimic a student's activities; rather, they rectify them, and I believe that kids who are
consistently late, absent, or leave early in a virtual classroom should be counseled by their teacher
first, and if the situation is out of hand, talking to the parents is necessary.

9. What procedures must be done when submitting homework/performance tasks in the

classroom/remote learning?
They can upload or submit their work in the classroom stream, where the teacher will post the
classwork on the LMS and ensure that all activities and assignments are completed on time.
Allowing students to finish projects or tasks ahead of time allows them to do it over a longer
period of time.

10. What procedures must be employed in movements into and out of the classroom/remote
learning?
Have students reply to questions in a variety of ways that demand them to do something to bring
movement to a session. Students can go to one of four corners when completing a multiple-choice
question. This not only allows students to wander around, but it also allows me to track and measure
student involvement more simply. When the session begins, students should turn on their cameras and,
if possible, turn off their microphones. Students should raise their hands to request permission to speak
by doing so online as well. I feel that virtual classes should be treated with the same amount of order
and respect as real classes.
Having these guide questions in mind, consult your RESOURCE TEACHER on the possible
assistance or participation that you can do to help him/her in doing the classroom routines. Complete
the matrix for the routines that you can employ before, during and after classes in the
classroom/remote learning.
List down the problems which you have encountered while implementing these routines
 Only the virtual class routines are limited.
 Some students have a slow internet connection, which makes it difficult for them to
complete assignments on time or switch on their cameras when the connection is slow or
unavailable.
 Because the teacher is unfamiliar with electronic tools, he or she may have difficulties
facilitating them.
 Shortage of electronic devices
 A signal loss
 There's a chance there'll be a power outage.
 Not everyone knows how to use a computer.
 There are just so many resources available.
 On many levels, mentally, physically, and emotionally unstable
