What I Have Learned

1. Literature is an oral or written record of man's significant experiences that are artistically
conveyed in a prosaic manner. Embodied in any literature work like essay, novel, journal, story,
biography, etc. are man's best thoughts and feelings about the world. These recorded or
preserved world perceptions of man are expressed directly or indirectly.
2. A Review of Related Literature (RRL) is an appraisal of man's written or spoken understanding of
the world. You deal with both formal or direct and informal or indirect manifestations of Man's
knowledge when doing an RRL. Fusing your global knowledge with the world perceptions of the
writers allows you to conduct a thorough investigation of previous written works connected to
your research topic.
3. 1. Look for materials which have something to do with the problem. They should be directly

or closely related to the topic, otherwise do not use it as a related literature.

2. Get the latest published materials. (Five years publication date is ideal) The more recent

the reference is, the better. Avoid outdated published materials.

3. Provide enough references to substantiate the research.

4. Review the literature by summarizing and paraphrasing it. Do not copy word for word. Get

the gist of the material and relate it to your present study. Don’t forget to cite the source of

the material and include it in the Reference List or Bibliography.

5. Avoid fictitious materials which are difficult to prove. The reviewed materials should be

based upon genuinely original and true facts or data which are valid and reliable.
6. Provide a statement on how that published material is associated to the present study

in the last part of your review.

4. It properly credits the authors of the words or ideas that you used in your paper. It enables
individuals reading your work to find your sources and learn more about the concepts you
present in your article.
5. The most current response. If 50% or more relevant research is omitted during the literature
review, the research gap analysis will be erroneous, and the research's validity will be called into
doubt.
