AMENDMENTS TO THE INTERNATIONAL CODE OF SIGNALS

1 The Maritime Safety Committee, at its seventy-third session (MSC 73/21, paragraph 11.25),
adopted amendments to the International Code of Signals the text of which is set out at annex (MSC 73/21,
annex 31).

2 Taking into account the importance of the annexed amendments, the Committee decided, in
accordance with resolution A.187(VI), that they should come into force on 1 January 2002.

3 Member Governments are invited to bring this information to the attention of all concerned.

AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER XII OF THE INTERNATIONAL

CODE OF SIGNALS

Chapter XII – “Single-letter Signals with Complements”

1 A new signal is added as follows:

“SIGNAL MEANING

Z-with one numeral To call or address shore visual signal stations (Numeral to be
approved by local port authority).”
