Rise of The Redscales

on Kobolds:
A kobold is a reptilian humanoid standing between 2' and 2'6" (60cm – 75cm) tall, weighing 35
to 45 pounds (16 – 20kg), with scaled skin between reddish brown and black in color and burnt
orange to red eyes. Their legs are sinewy, and they have long, clawed fingers and a jaw like a
crocodile. Small white or tan horns protruded from their head, and they have rat-like tails.
Kobolds are aggressive, inward, yet industrious small humanoid creatures. They are noted for
their skill at building traps and preparing ambushes, and mining. They are distantly related to
dragon and are often found serving as their minions.

Story:
Deep beneath the small town of Helmsfield, unbeknownst to its inhabitants, lies one of the
world's largest dragon's lairs. This cavernous mega dungeon has been growing underground for
millennia. Here, the ancient Dragon Queen, Arvalexia, lies slumbering, surrounded by the wealth
of nations and the treasures of a thousand devoured adventurers. Here, her sinister plans for
world domination are hatched. Here, her prized treasures are kept behind numerous arcane and
mundane defenses. But maintaining such a place is a lot of work, and every dragon, no matter
how ancient, needs minions.

This is a story of two kobold tribes: the Redscales and the Bluescales. Their duties include
guarding the numerous vaults and hoards, setting traps, rearming traps, feeding the tamed
monstrosities, and fighting off the occasional ooze that climbs out of the Bottomless Pit. They
are the caretakers of this place. They also hate each other and constantly compete for more
power and dominance inside the Lair. The primary cause of their feud is the different color of
their scales. To the kobolds, their tribe is the epitome of draconic heritage. To a casual observer,
however, both tribes appear vaguely purple. Routine at the Lair was shaken up when the Dragon
Queen awoke for the first time in a decade, and without giving any instructions, departed along
with her salamander servants. Most of the kobolds are too young to remember the last time this
happened, and now, ten days after her departure, various rumors are circulating among the
Redscales.

Ten days is a long time. Especially for impatient kobolds. Perhaps she's left for good. Perhaps
they've been abandoned. Alone with mountains of gold and piles of dangerous magical artifacts.
And what if… what if the Bluescales get to them first?
