ACTIVITY: STUDENT’S JOURNAL. Reflect on the importance Rizal’s Petition. What do you
think is the main argument of Rizal on the Petition? In today’s situation, how can you show your
concerns in the community especially in this time of pandemic?

In January 1888, Rizal submitted the petition, which asked for an accounting of the lands'
revenue and output. The Dominican Friars of the Hacienda de Calamba were thought to be
engaging in tax fraud. Rizal wrote the petition specifically to advocate for the local tenants,
farmers, and citizens. And before the Filipinos achieved economic independence from the
Spaniards, the Spanish government had control over the Philippine economy. They develop
regulations and guidelines for the monopoly. Because of the friars' actions, the residents of
Hacienda de Calamba complained about growing rent and taxes. With the help of Rizal, they
asked the government for reports.

By maintaining efficient communication with everyone, I can express my worries to the

community, particularly during this pandemic. When there is a pandemic, communication takes
on a far wider scope than simply getting messages out to individuals. Situation right now Giving
individuals access to the appropriate information is key to stopping the COVID-19 from
spreading. Nowadays, during the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an abundance of knowledge,
which causes a "infodemic" or spreading of invalid information.
