Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 One of the main reasons I didn't study English before is because I
wasn't sure if it was the language I wanted to learn. Another reason is
because I didn't know how, where or with whom to study this language.

Another reason why I didn't study English was because I was afraid of
failing and not understanding the language, also because I didn't have
the economic possibility, and lastly because I didn't investigate the free
options.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.

If I had learned English before my life would be very different, I would

probably be studying another career, I would have foreign friends, these
friends I would get through social networks, so I would practice the
language. Another change in my life is that I would know the lyrics of my
favorite songs, all the pop and rap songs. And lastly, I wouldn't be doing
these Sena courses.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:
Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more
satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.

B.
1. I am studying English because I want to be better every day, that is to say, I
want to expand my knowledge, I want to travel around the world and this
language is a great tool to communicate in other countries. I am also
studying English because my favorite artists speak English and when I meet
them I want to know how to communicate with them, and lastly because
most jobs require a bilingual person.

2. Knowing English will open many doors for me, it will always be an important
tool in my profession, for example I can work for foreign companies. I can
also communicate in most countries around the world when I travel.
