increase in the distribution of continents the diversity of species increased due

to many new environments and possibilities of evolution

The more continents there are, the more biomes, habitats, and ecosystems
there are. Each ecosystem will cause genetic mutations that will lead to more
genetic diversity.

The Continental Drift causes physical barriers and therefore increases diversity
as species increase due to mutations. Another reason is because land bridges
form and disappear and with that species move from one area to another.

Any specie with unfavorable traits or genetics won't be able to survive and
therefore will die out. This means that many favorable traits could survive and
then stray away from the original genes of the specie, making an entirely new
specie.

1. r-strategists produce greater numbers of offspring hence fast population

growth
2. r-strategists distribute themselves more widely

1. Greater number of species in climax community

2. More complex food webs

1. Succession is the process of changes in a community/ecosystem over

time
2. Whereas zonation is the process of changes over an environmental
space

1. Increasing numbers of trophic levels/longer food chains will be

composed of different species

2. More branching at each trophic level will mean more energy transferred
at each trophic level

In pioneer communities:
1. there will be lower organic content due to combustion from the fire
2. there may be a higher concentration of available minerals released
from the ashes
