A wombat has a nose like a pig, a very short tail, and a big bottom.
Wombats are in the same family as kangaroos and koalas. Their baby is
called a joey. When a joey is born, it crawls into its mother's special pouch.
Their rounded bodies and strong feet make wombats great diggers. They dig
long tunnels and stay in them during the day. At night they come out to eat
grass, roots, and tree bark.
Wombats wiggle when they walk. They look very cute. But if they are in danger, they can run
very fast.
