                  Fear is by no means the only obstacle to learning the language of computers. The
language used by humans is replete with vagueness. Not a sentence uttered can be considered to
be free from some degree of ambiguity. Computers, on the other hand, require a precision of
expression or exactness that is extremely rare in ordinary language. The use of language in
normal discourse assumes some shared experiences, and we take for granted that a listener has
some common sense. The computer, unfortunately, has not shared our experiences, and it has
absolutely no common sense.
