Training Session on

What is new and coming up in Good Manufacturing Practices

16 Oct 2022, Hotel Marriott, Karachi

Hi everyone & Salaam -Al akum

This is my pleasure and honor to welcome you all on this Training Session for Professional
Development.
My association with CCK & CQS is right from the beginning and I don’t remember if I have
missed any of the scientific session (either in person when I am in Pakistan or remotely if I am
out of country) organized by this platform simply because of the organizers, namely Roohi and
Dr. Obaid Ali and their dedication for cultivating the knowledge of Pharmaceutical Sciences in
the area of Quality and Compliance.
Being associated with the: Pharmaceutical quality, manufacturing technology,
emerging/reshaping of regulatory compliance and emerging paradigm shift for the past 3+
decades, strongly fell that Cost, Quality and Compliance are three fundamental focus area. Even
the slightest overlook or deviation from the fundamental of Quality may cost loss of life of our
Dear or Near ones. Many such examples are still fresh in our minds. Some of the examples are:

 Few years ago: loss of 100+ patients suffering from cardiovascular disease because of the
consumption of substandard pharmaceutical drugs in Pakistan.

 Most recent incident of loss of 60+ innocent Children in African countries due to
consumption of Cough Syrup (perhaps contamination of Ethylene Glycol)
There are many such fatal examples of such incidents where I am not responsible but being
associated with pharmaceutical industry in the area of quality and compliance feeling personal
guilty for such ignorance resulted death of innocent people.
Highly convince and fully support “Petition of the Program”: A blog entitled “Honest
Transformation to Maintain Momentum in Assurance of “Drug Quality” is the source thought. A
system cannot be mature with out maturing the personnel operating the quality at any shell.
Education and training are important but not sufficient to develop personnel unless one learns to
connect data to information and sketch design from information to knowledge through feelings
and experiential learning.

Lastly an important take away is that:

1. I am witness of overwhelmed participation in the program organized from CCK & CQS
platform of technical colleagues working in pharmaceutical Quality and manufacturing
operations.
2. People participating in any of the program mostly organized over the weekends are so
disciplined that the 100% attendance at the program start up time (8:30-9:00am) till the
closing time.

3. I also strongly recommend that all our colleagues who are attending the program
organized by CCK & CQS and all the contents of every program always supported by
example in the light of recent regulations of Quality and Compliance. I strongly suggest
that we must evaluate our current system/Practice and if here is room of improvements
then we must try to implement in our Quality system. Wish you fruitful/enjoyable
session.

Regards
Iftikhar Jafri
