Education, these days, is not limited behind closed doors and blackboards.

It is more about the

way a child is taught to deal with practical scenarios. Thus, technology is aimed to enhance the
learning experience. Students and teachers’ development and improvement/confidence are
inseparable.

Firstly, teacher’s professional growth is necessary to keep up with the changing trends in
education. A constantly trained and focused teacher will go a long way in the evolution of the
students. Obviously, Smart classrooms are becoming a norm, they open up communication
channels, allow students to get more attention as well as enabling them to track their
coursework progress and identify areas of improvement more efficiently. I believe, when a
classroom is equipped with technology, students are provided with an instant access to
information across the globe. Accordingly, teachers are considering/have to consider ways to
improve the teaching methods and make the process more interactive.

On the other side, Teaching is definitely not about facts and figures. A teacher leads, guides,
facilitates and mentors a student. They are role models that drive them towards a brighter
future. Moreover, learners are provided with independent learning. To illustrate, teachers
impart students with valuable life lessons and inspire them to reach their potential. Students
are taught such skills as decision-making, critical thinking, team-work etc. Simply put, the trust
and bond between a teacher and student creates the perfect learning environment; which can
never be achieved through virtual learning.

In essence, Teachers versus technology is an ongoing battle. Ultimately, it isn’t about teachers
being replaced by technology but how teachers can adapt to incorporate technology in their
lessons. Devices can only be a helping factor to learn, but it cannot replace the knowledge and
experience that come with a teacher. Briefly, the teacher will have to become a facilitator of
parting trustworthy information from electronic sources to the students.
