Note to the teacher:
In this product, you will find 25 ready-to-use worksheets and
answer keys. Each worksheet has four activities, making it sufficient
to use as homework. Throughout this product you will see that I

K e y
have integrated prefix and suffix activities.

e r
s w
Spelling is a difficult task for many students. There is a

A n
difference between spelling rules and spelling patterns. This unit
includes both. Phonics rules have logical reasons. Phonics patterns

and
have no logical reason as there are multiple spellings for the very
same sound. Research tells us that our brains store patterns in
similar folders that are more efficiently retrieved.

s
For the teacher, it may seem laborious to teach a variety of

r l i n k
spellings for the same sound at the same time. It is easier, but may

e
Hyp
not be effective to teach one rule or pattern at a time. This unit is
designed to give students the practice they need to read and spell

e
through rules and patterns.

i n t h
Note: Within the word sorts I have stated to find 10 words. To

e
ar
minimize frustration I tried to include 1 or 2 extra words to find in
each word search.
