Assignment 3

REVCY R. SUERTE
NSTP (2560)

1. In your capacity as an NSTP student, how can you help the

government in its "War Against Drug" Program?  (50pts)

As an NSTP student, I am aware of my obligation and role as a citizen in assisting the

government in developing policies that benefit our nation's welfare. Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippine
President, was sworn in on June 30, 2016. He implemented a policy to combat drug abuse in the country
by granting police broad powers to kill any suspected drug addicts or dealers, which became known as
the "War on Drugs." Despite the government's unwavering efforts, this program would not be successful
without the active participation of the community and the engagement of young people like us. It is true
that there are lot of ways we could help the government on its policies. However, rather of focusing on
solutions that just address the symptoms of the problem, we should address the root cause. I believe
the greatest solution is, adhering to good civic ideals, by this I may assist the government in its drug-war
effort. I suppose that drugs are one of the results of living a life devoid of decent citizenship principles.
In addition, we should look into it that, as citizens of our country, we should be part of the solution
rather than part of the problem. We just have to decide whether or not we shall live a life of a good
citizen. Because I believe that living a life that is values driven is the only way around, to have a better
world free of drug abuse.

2. Being aware of the nature and ill effects of drugs to humans and
communities, make your personal oath on how you will remain drug-
free by writing it in a diary.  This will serve as your guide in your daily
activity which you may turn as reminders from time to time.  (50pts)

I Revcy R. Suerte, do solemnly swear to support the government on its effort to eradicate drug
abuse. I will take charge by saying "no" to all drugs so that, I will not develop the terrible habits of using
any of them. I will make wise decisions by saying "no" to all substances and serving as a positive role
model for everyone. I will pledge to stand up for what I know is right and show others that drug free life
is a healthy and happy life.
