What's new in VxRail Appliance software 4.7.110

VxRail Appliance software version 4.7.110 includes the resolution to DTA 531166: VxRail: Software versions 4.5.300 and
4.7.100 may encounter high I/O latency and/or diminished Virtual Machine performance. It contains the recommended
HBA330 firmware and driver to prevent the critical issue as well as other important VxRail fixes and new firmware.

New features
VxRail Appliance software version 4.7.110 enables VxRail node addition/removal by customers:
● The VxRail Manager Plugin for vCenter includes a new option for customers to add new nodes to, and remove nodes from
existing VxRail clusters.
● Node addition/removal by customers in stretched clusters running VxRail versions lower than 4.7.300 is not supported at
this time, and still requires Services to be involved.

Recommended HBA330 firmware

VxRail Appliance software 4.7.110 includes the following recommended HBA330 firmware version:
● Firmware 15.17.09.06
● Driver 16.00.01.00
NOTE: There is a known issue that causes vCenter to display a false positive vSAN health service warning regarding
controller firmware certification. This warning can be safely ignored for VxRail Appliance software all versions of 4.7.x
including 4.7.110 (as well as 4.5.300 and 4.5.310). This does not indicate that the HBA330 firmware or driver update failed.
Refer to KB 528230 for more detail and for the workaround.

NOTE: Due to security patches and critical fixes, it is recommended that you upgrade to VxRail 4.7.526 for all versions of
VxRail Appliance software 4.7.x.

NOTE: There is no supported upgrade path from VxRail 4.7.526 to a released version of VxRail 7.0.x at this time.

NOTE: For VxRail systems on PowerEdge platforms running VxRail 4.7.2xx (and above) with secure boot enabled, upgrades
to VxRail 4.7.410 (and above, including 7.0.010) do not need to have secure boot manually disabled/re-enabled before and
after an LCM upgrade. The upgrade will execute while keeping secure boot enabled on the host. However, users must
ensure that no unsigned VIBs are in the node to prevent adverse effects during a host boot.

NOTE: Users upgrading from VxRail 4.0.x to 4.7.526 must generate the upgrade procedure using Dell EMC SolVe and
follow the instructions to run a script before running the upgrade to VxRail 4.7.526.

62 Upgrades
NOTE: You may not be able to upgrade your system software in some circumstances:
● If you have a 3-node cluster running VxRail software 4.5.152 or earlier.
● If you are using a stretched cluster VxRail configuration and you are running VxRail software version 4.7.212 or earlier.
● If your cluster is in an unhealthy state or has critical health alarms.
