WHAT IS HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE?

Historical significance is the assessing of how


impactful an event was. Here are some
statements that can be used to catagorize the
events:
How notable the event was at the time.
How widespread and lasting the consequences
of the event were.
How symbolic and representative the event was.

GLOBALLY SIGNIFICANT

Most everyone in the world should be aware


about it.

Examples of globally significant events are:


-COVID-19
-Global Warming

NATIONALLY SIGNIFICANT

Most everyone in that country should be aware


about it.

Examples of nationally significant events are:


-The Canadian federal elections in 2023
-Canada's separation from the British government in
1867

REGIONALLY SIGNIFICANT

Most everyone in the region or people belongs


to that specific group should be aware about it.

Examples of regionally significant events are:


-Construction of a new subway line
-The van attack which happened in 2018 on Yonge
street.

INDIVIDUALLY SIGNIFICANT

Only the individual or the family of the


individual should be aware about it.

Examples of individually significant events are:


-A birth of a baby
-The death ofFOR
a family member
