GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS & PREDICTIONS

7.1 Site Works - In situ investigations

Fieldwork was undertaken from the 25th & 26th August, 22nd September and 10th October 2021, and
comprised the drilling and testing of four (4) timed open holes namely, BH-1, BH-2, BH-4 and BH-5 and
four (4) boreholes with continuous core recovery denoted as BH-3, BH-6, BH-7 and BH-8. The location
of these boreholes has been provided in the Test Locations shown in Figure 3.
The borehole drilling records are shown in Appendix 2 and summarized in Table 1 below.

7.2 Classification
The main geological stratum encountered during the investigation is:

• Light yellow to cream, Fine to Coarse, Weak to Medium Strong, Lower Globigerina Limestone
of “Fair” to “Excellent” quality.
Photographs of the rock core recovered are shown in Appendix 3. The borehole logs are located in
Appendix 5.

7.3 Groundwater conditions

The measured water level after drilling has been encountered at 9.10m in BH-3, 12.60m in BH-7 and
12.70m in BH-8.

7.4 Rock Quality

Table 2 below shows the values of the quality of the rock cores recovered namely the Total Core
Recovery (TCR), the Solid Core Recovery (SCR), the Rock Quality Designation (RQD) and the Fracture
Index. These parameters are described in Figure 8 as per BS5930:2015.
