The type 340 and the type 380. Each type of the pilebreakers for round series is ‘capable of breaking down piles with a range of pile diameters. The type 340 breaks piles with a dimeter from 350 up to 1000mm with average reinforcement. The type 380 breaks piles with a diameter from 600 up to 1800mm with average reinforcement, The pilebreaker round series consists of single links with a fixed pitch, and halFlinks. The links can be connected to form a chain. ‘The diameter of the pile determines how many links have to be used to form a chain that fits over the pile. Each single link contains a hydraulic cylinder with a chisel. The halF-ink is without hydraulic cylinder, The hydraulic cylinders are connected to the hydraulic system of an excavator or to a separate power pack with the correct oil pressure and ol flow. With the pilebreaker in position the chisels are driven into the pile, leaving a horizontal crack at the cut-off level and removing the concrete above, The reinforcement of the pile remains intact. ‘Taets Techniek B. 3 MANUAL TAETS PILEBREAKER, Round series Manufacturer: Taets Techniek BV Marineweg 23 2241. MANUAL TAETS PILEBREAKER, Round series Chapter 2: Safety “The pilebreaker is designed to break the top of round concrete foundation piles. The extreme high forces which are needed to do so, make that without proper maintenance and skifful operation, the equipment has to be considered as dangerous. ‘The operator has to be instructed prior to operation about the dangerous situations that might occur while testing, operating and servicing the pilebreaker. “The area inside the pilebreaker and under the pilebreaker are the danger areas. Due to the functionality of the machine it Is not possible to shield off complete that section, Between the chisels a very high forces can be built up. This danger, if not avoided, WILL result in serious injury or even death. Because of the ‘heavy ‘weight of the machine itis forbidden to be under the machine, Never reach into the danger area around the chisels and stay at a safe distance from the machine while testing, operating and servicing the pilebreaker. Taets Technick BV. 5 MANUAL TAETS PILEBREAKER, Round series Risky High-pressure hydraulic equipment, burst hose causing injury. Action © Check correct specification of the hydraulic hose that is used, © Machines must be serviced and checked for wear and visible damage by procedures, prier to use, © Goggles are recommenced for use, Risk; Failure of Lifting Equipment Action © All chains and miscellaneous lifting gear are regularly checked (and tested if necessary) according the applicable rules. * Ensure that you adhere to safe lifting practices regarding overhead lifting and manoeuvres, Risk: Hydraulic oil - risk of injury from continuous exposure, risk of fire. Action © Be aware of current COSHH recommendations regarding the handling and storing of hydraulic oil. © Suitable protective clothing is recommenced, Taets Techniek BV. 6 MANUAL TAETS PILEBREAKER, Round series Chapter 3: Transport, handling and storage of the pile breaker The pile breaker should be moved on a pallet with the use of a forklift. IF this is not possible, the pile breaker can be picked up by connecting a sling or chains to the lifting eye situated on top of the link. The weight of a complete link type 340 is 102 kgs, and the weight of a half link type 340 is 35 kgs. “The weight of a complete link type 380 is 212 kgs, and the weight Cf a half link type 380 is 80 kgs. ‘The hydraulic connections must be capped during transportation to prevent leaking oil, and to ensure that no dirt enters the hydraule oylinders. The chisels must be retracted, To maintain the pile breaker in good condition during storage please note the folowing: ‘© Dry surroundings (long term storage); Sealed connections; = Retracted chisels; ‘+ Removal of any concrete and dust (pressure cleaner); * Al parts. should be well lubricated if left in damp conditions. Before storage all pins, which connect the tinks must be removed, cleaned and greased. Tacts Techniek B.V. 7 MANUAL TAETS PILEBREAKER, Round series ar In Before installing the pilebreaker read, chapter 2, Safety, of this manual. Built up the unit on a flat surface, using as many links as necessary in agreement with the pile dimensions. (Ref. Teble 3.1) Connect the links with the pins and! secure the safety plate. Make sure the safety plate is positioned and tightened! This is important - the pin fs not secured, it can work loose and cause irrevocable damage to the link. “The pile breaker (suspended by ting chains and a cruciform) must be connected to @ hydraulic supply e.g. an excavator. The supply ‘must be 6-12 litres/minute for each cylinder. To obtain optimal piston speed, 12 litres per minute for each fink is required. The total required amount of ol! equals the number of links multiplied by 12. The maximum working pressure for type 340 is 350 bars and for type 380 300 bars 1 this pressure is exceeded, damage to the hydrauiic seats ~ cylinder may cour! AMter 15 minutes of crushing, check that the chisels and bolts are still secure. & loose chisel will cause damage to tite piston and a oose bolt will damage link parts! Check all hydraulic ftings for any leaks. Leaking hydraulic oil Is an unnecessary environmental risk. (CHECK THIS TWICE DAILY! Type 380 links have a pitch of 380 mm, and halflinks type 380 have a fixed pitch of 285 mm, Each link, type 340 and type 380, contains a hydraulic cylinder. Each cylinder contains a chisel, secured by a guide bush. The hydraulic supply flows through separate hoses to each cylinder. The unit must be ‘connected to a hydraulic supply, which provides the pile breaker with sufficient oiFflow. ‘The type 340 is designed for breaking piles with a dimeter from 350 up to.1000mm with average reinforcement. The type 380 is designed for breaking piles with a diameter from 600 up to 1800mm with average reinforcement, “The noise-level of the pilebreaker is below 70 dB (A).. Then you must ensure that the lifting equipment is Property secured to the pllebreaker and to the lifting dovice {excavator or crane). Breaking piles must always be done in a top-down manner. For the best results the distance between.each bresk must be approximately 200-300 mm, To achieve a dean horizontal fracture at the last bite, cut-off level, ensure that approximately 200 mi of tuncrustied conerete remains for the last “bite”. Place the pilebreaker over the pile and lower it to the required position, Activate the pllebreaker and watch the chisels entering the pile and break the concrete, After each “bite” Keep the chisels In the out postion and lit of the broken concrete from the pile. Repeat this until you reach the desired aut off level, For the best results and durability, all chisels should pene- trate the concrete in between the reinforcement bars. When crushing oversized piles, a halflink can be used. Ensure the safety plate is positioned and tightened!
