1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Foreword
The purpose of this manual is to guide mine personnel in observing correct
and safe working procedures during operation and maintenance of the
AutoMine / AutoMine-Lite system. The standard maintenance procedures
are described in the AutoMine / AutoMine-Lite maintenance manuals.
AutoMine or AutoMine-Lite systems are intended for automated and
efficient data collection from machines working in tunnels and mines.
AutoMine and AutoMine-Lite instructions are intended to supplement
machine-specific operation and maintenance manuals with respect
to the system. Reading and understanding the machine-specific
instructions is mandatory for safe operation and maintenance of the
machinery as a whole.

Only personnel with the appropriate training and authorisation may perform
procedures described in this manual. Each operator and maintenance
personnel must become familiar with the machine and understand the
operating and maintenance instructions as well as the general safe working
procedures prior to operating, maintaining or repairing the AutoMine /
AutoMine-Lite system. This manual contains information about the safe use
of components, instruments and working procedures. The AutoMine /
AutoMine-Lite system must be operated only by personnel with proper
training in the use of the system..
This warning symbol is used to identify important safety messages
in this manual. Pay close attention whenever the warning symbol is
shown. Read the safety message carefully and clearly inform other
operators of the warning as necessary.

All personnel operating the AutoMine / AutoMine-Lite system or


carrying out maintenance or repair work on it must read and
understand the operating and safety instructions prior to starting
work.

Always observe the required legislation and local safety regulations


concerning the prevention of accidents and environmental protection.
Observation of the generally recognized technical regulations ensures
professional and safe use of the system.
If demanding or complex maintenance and repair work is required, contact
your nearest Sandvik Mining and Construction service centre. Sandvik
Mining and Construction’s trained maintenance personnel and special tools
guarantee a successful repair result.
Continuous product development of the AutoMine / AutoMine-Lite system
may have resulted in changes to the system that are not included in this
manual. Always consult the Sandvik equipment support bulletins.

2.1 Safety labels, safety messages and signals
This section includes explanations of safety symbols, signs, signals and
labels used on the product and in the information for use.

2.1.1 Signal words


The following signal words and symbols are used to identify safety
messages in these instructions:

DANGER
The signal word, "DANGER", indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, will result in death or severe injury.

WARNING
The signal word, "WARNING", indicates a hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, could result in death or severe injury.

NOTICE
The signal word, "NOTICE", indicates a situation which, if not avoided,
could result in damage to property or environment.
2.1.2 General hazard symbol

This general hazard symbol identifies important safety messages in this


manual.
When you see this symbol, be alert; your safety is involved. Carefully read
and understand the message that follows, and inform other users.

2.1.3 Hazard symbols


Hazard symbols are used to indicate the type of the hazard and the
potential consequences. Hazard symbols are indicated by a yellow triangle
with black symbols and black frames. All personnel working on or near the
machine must understand and comply with information given in all hazard
symbols.

2.1.4 Prohibited action symbols


Prohibited action symbols indicate actions which are prohibited in order to
avoid a hazard. Prohibited actions are indicated by a red circle with a red
diagonal line across the circle. The action which is prohibited will always be
in black. All personnel working on or near the machine must understand
and comply with information given in all prohibited action symbols.

2.2 General Safety Instructions

WARNING
IGNORING INSTRUCTIONS HAZARD!
If you do not understand any information related to your duties in the
manuals you MUST make sure that you get clarification from a
person who is well trained with regard to the task you want to do.
When necessary, you or your representative must contact a Sandvik
representative to seek clarification as to how you should do the task.

WARNING
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED!
Incorrect operating, service and adjustment procedures could cause
death or severe injuries.
Operating, service and adjustment procedures require professional
knowledge and thorough training regarding the tasks and working
methods.
Do not do any tasks without proper training. Always follow the
instructions. Use appropriate personal protective equipment,
depending on the task.
Carefully plan your work beforehand to minimize risk of damage or
injury.

WARNING! RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY!


Lifting too heavy a load by hand could cause personal injury.
Perform the lifting carefully, and use appropriate lifting equipment
when you are lifting a load weighing more than 25 kg. Make sure that
the load is properly fastened and in balance before lifting and follow
safe lifting procedures.

WARNING
PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD!
Mechanical failure of the welded seams could result in death or
severe injury.
Never repair steering devices or cabin by welding.
If welding is required, revise specific welding instructions from the
machine's maintenance manual.

PROPERTY DAMAGE RISK!


Inoperative system could cause personal injury or property damage.
Ensure that the installation of the AutoMine system does not cause
problems with other machine functions.
Utilize circuit diagrams during wiring of the AutoMine system.

Due caution must be observed at all times when operating the system.
Failure to do so can seriously endanger the safety of the operators and
other personnel. All persons involved in operation or maintenance work
must be aware of potential hazards and must use safe working methods.
Before starting any maintenance or repair work, read the manufacturer’s
instructions and follow them. Operators must understand how to use the
system and must also understand the safety consequences of using the
system contrary to the instructions. The operators must have full command
of all the functions of the equipment before starting to use it.

2.3 Safety measures regarding Monitoring system


WARNING! ELECTRICAL HAZARD!
Electric shock could cause death or serious injury.
Exercise caution when downloading data through USB port located
nearby electrics or the fuse box.

PROPERTY DAMAGE RISK!


Neglecting scheduled maintenance may lead to unexpected machine
malfunctions.
NOTICE Do not use AutoMine data as a replacement for the machine
maintenance plan. Data can be be used as suggestive information.
Individual maintenance procedures are described in machine
maintenance manuals.

2.4 Important safety notes


Only authorized and trained personnel are allowed to operate,
maintain, repair, or modify the system and related components.
Improper or unauthorized operation, maintenance, or repairs may
lead to serious injury or death. When operating, maintaining or
repairing the system, always adhere to the mandatory rules relating
to accident prevention and environmental protection, as well as the
safe working instructions.

Continuous research and development of the system and its related


products may lead to changes that are not covered in this manual. For the
latest manual updates, contact Sandvik Mining and Construction.
• Work on electrical equipment or materials may only be carried out by
qualified electricians or other professionals, or assistants under their
supervision and control, observing electrotechnical regulations.
• The local electrotechnical and electric safety regulations must always be
observed.
• Use only original electrical components.

• Electrical power must be disconnected from all equipment parts or


devices to be checked, serviced or repaired, as required by electrical
safety regulations. Check that the disconnected parts are de-energized
and then lock the main switch or install temporary earthing as necessary.
• Connections and connectors must be de-energized before plugging or
unplugging cables.
• Check electrical equipment regularly. Faults such as loose wires and
damaged insulation must be repaired at once.
• When handling high-voltage components, remember that capacitors may
have an electric charge even when the power is cut off. Short the
capacitors with an earthing rod.
• Do not make any changes to electrical equipment. Sandvik Mining and
Construction is not responsible for alterations to electrical equipment.
Contact Sandvik Mining and Construction's electrical engineering
department if necessary.

Working on energized components


• If a component must be live, one employee must be ready on-hand at all
times to switch the power off via the emergency stop or main switch.
Follow the electrical safety regulations.
• Use a safety chain and warning signs to encircle the working area.
• Use only insulated tools.
• Observe special caution.

2.5 Incident reporting


Product safety issues to be reported are events where a product
manufactured by Sandvik Mining and Construction has been involved in an
accident or near-miss incident. Safety-related feedback, such as
unauthorized modifications, missing manuals and safety labels, negligence
of maintenance or misuse shall be reported to your local Sandvik
representative as well.
Reporting is mandatory to ensure safe working conditions for employees, to
provide information for the risk assessment process, and to initiate product
improvements.
Contact your local Sandvik representative to report safety issues, such as
those mentioned above.

5 INSTALLATION
5.1 General instructions
• When installing monitoring components, it is possible to utilize existing
WLAN system for the use of monitoring, resulting that additional WLAN
components are not required to be installed.
• All installation dimensions presented in this manual are in millimeters.

DANGER
ELECTRICAL HAZARD!
Failure to strictly follow instructions will lead to severe injury and/or
death and/or property damage.
Work on electrical equipment or devices is to be performed only by
persons with the expertise and qualifications required by the
authorities, or under the supervision of a person meeting these
requirements.

WARNING! ELECTRICAL HAZARD!


Failure to follow these instructions could lead to death or serious
injury.
Isolate the machine by turning off the main switch and removing the
power plug from the electrical network before any work on electrical
components.
Ensure that electricity cannot be switched on accidentally during the
maintenance or repair work!
Ensure that the earth leakage protection is provided.
Electrical safety tests and measurements must be done before
operating the machine.

2. Connect CAN cable (10) to Data management unit “CAN 1 in” Connector.
3. Connect Circuit braker F3130 (14) to Power Supply Box X3003 (6).
4. Connect Power cable (9) to Circuit braker F3130 (14).
5. Connect CAN Cable (10) to Middle module (13) XM4 connector.
The CAN cable pin connection order is:

Ethernet and USB cabling from Data management unit (7) to Cabin
interface connectors (1, 2)
1. Connect Ethernet cable (3) to Data management unit “Ethernet”
connector.
2. Connect USB cable (5) to Data management unit “USB 1” connector.
3. Route Ethernet and USB cables from Data management unit to Cabin
entry plate located behind the instrument panel.
4. Attach USB via connector (4) to Cabin entry plate, use reduction adapter
if necessary.
5. Connect Cabin USB cable (2) to USB via connector (4) and leave the
cabin USB cable inside the instrument panel.
6. Connect USB cable (5) to via connector.
7. Attach Cabin Ethernet cable (1) to Cabin entry plate, use reduction
adapter if necessary. Attach Cabin Ethernet cable to instrument panel
Ethernet plug if it is not used, otherwise leave the Ethernet cable inside
the instrument panel.
8. Connect Ethernet cable (3) to Cabin Ethernet cable (1) via connector.
Terminal resistor (8) to Data management unit (7)
1. Connect terminal resistor (8) to Data management unit ”CAN 1 out”
connector.

6 INSTALLATION INSPECTION
6.1 Installation Inspection
Installation inspection purpose is to verify that all installed components and
wires are working.
Note! Before installation inspection the Data management unit software
must be installed according to Monitoring Onboard Software
installation and commissioning manual.

The following tool are required tools for inspection test:


• Laptop with Ethernet cable
• USB stick.

6.2 Power On Verification


Preconditions: All OptiMine components and cables installed according to
manual.
1. Connect Power On to machine.
2. Verify from Data management unit that status led is lit, indicating that the
unit is booting up.
3. Verify from Data management unit that status led is solid GREEN after
unit boot up sequence.
Trobleshooting:
If the Status led is OFF:
• Ensure that the machine’s main isolator switch is ON.
• Verify that Power cable is connected to Data management unit Power
connector.
• Inspect the Data management unit for damage, ensure that all cables are
connected correctly as per schematic and that they are securely
tightened.
• Check that the module is receiving power:
- Check the status of fuse F3130. If the fuse has tripped then inspect
the module for damage. Check for short circuit and that the earth is
connected with low resistance to machine chassis.
- Check the connection to the power supply of the machine. Inspected
for damage and that the cable is connected secure.
- Measure supply voltage from Data management unit side of power
cable. Verify that pins 1& 2 are +24V and that 3&4 pins are GND.
- If the above have been checked and are correct then the module
may be damaged or faulty. This requires that the module be send to
the manufacture for repaired and the module needs to be replaced.
If the Status led won’t change solid GREEN:
• Verify that Data management unit software is correctly installed.

The unit status led indicator indicates different device states using colours
and flashing patterns, as described in the following table.

6.3 RMT login Verification


Pre Conditions: Power on verification completed successfully.
1. Connect laptop to cabin Ethernet cable.
2. Verify that Data management unit is operational and Status led is solid
GREEN.
3. Verify that laptop IP address is in same network as Data management
unit IP address. (See Monitoring Onboard Software installation and
commissioning manual chapter Remote Management Tool.)
4. Verify that it is possible to login to RMT system. (See Monitoring Onboard
Software installation and commissioning manual chapter Remote
Management Tool / Login.)
Troubleshooting:
If login window won’t appear:
• Verify that Ethernet cable is connected to Data Management Unit ETH1
port.

• Verify that Ethernet cable is not damaged and cabin lead through
connector is attached properly.
• Verify that Data management unit replies to Ping. If not verify that used
IP addresses are correct.
• If Data management unit replies to Ping, verify that in used web browser
the proxy settings are disabled.
• If cases above are correct try to boot Data management unit and try with
different web browser.

6.4 CAN bus Verification


Preconditions: Login to RMT completed successfully
1. Open Signals page from RMT.
2. Type CAN error state to the search field and click search.
3. Verify that one signal is found and the value is 0 indicating that CAN bus
state is ok.
Troubleshooting:
If CAN error state Not 0:
• Verify that status LED is GREEN.
• Check that the CAN bus connection to Data management unit is
connected to CAN 1 connector.
• Verify that CAN bus have a 120Ω resistance connected to the output of
CAN 1 connection. When OptiMine kit is fitted this replaces one of the
existing machine termination resistance. Ensure that there are only two
terminating resistances on the machine CAN bus and that 60Ω can be
seen across the CAN H and CAN L connections with the power isolated.
• If this is correct then verify CAN bus configuration settings. The CAN bus
configurations must be set to CAN 1 and the bus speed to 250kb/s. This
must be done by uploading / modifying the Params.tar.gz file using the
USB connection or the RMT Tool on your laptop.

6.5 USB status Verification


Preconditions: RMT login completed successfully
1. Prepare USB stick by formating the stick to FAT32 file system and add
commands.xml (empty) file to USB stick.
• Format the USB stick by first opening My Computer from the start
menu.
• Right click on the USB drive and select Format... from the menu.
• Select FAT32 from the File system drop-down menu and leave the
other options to their defaults.
• Click Start to begin formatting.
• After formatting Open the USB drive to windows explorer and right-
click a blank area in the folder window.
• Select New, then Text Document

• Right-click the new text file and rename the file commands.xml. The
file can be empty
2. Connect USB stick to cabin USB interface cable.
3. Open Main page from RMT.
4. Verify that USB status is Connected.
Troubleshooting:
If USB status is Disconnected even if USB stick is attached.
• Verify that USB cable is connected to Data management unit USB
connector.
• Verify that USB cable is not damaged lead through is properly connected.
• Try the other USB stick.
