Introduction
All hospital staff play an important role in providing the utmost quality of care to
our patients regardless of their job title. As an hospital employee, it can get to a point in your
career where the tasks become mundane which can lead into a lack of accountability in ourselves
and can trickle down to our patient care by also struggling to advocate for our patients. In such a
vital role, we aim to bring awareness to these key areas to provide employees with transparency,
Accountability goes a long way in the healthcare field regardless of your position.
Each employee has an ethical and moral obligation to hold themselves and their coworkers
accountable along with your Healthcare administration team - no one is exempt from this. In
order for the hospital to provide quality, patient-centered care we must be following any current
or upcoming standards that are released to the team as well as attending meetings and training on
the new standards that are presented. In order for everyone to buy in on a new standard we
We are the face of the organization. What we say, do, and hold ourselves says a lot about
our hospital. It is important to remember that this also sets the tone for how this makes us look as
advocates for our patients, coworkers, profession, and organization. Your Healthcare
Administrative teams job is to understand the current state legislation with laws, being actively
involved with the community, and understand how the community views the healthcare
organization at large. This all trickles down into the hospital staff at all levels with new laws that
can be introduced affecting your current position, creating opportunities for staff to help assist in
community involvement activities, and being mindful that you are a role model.
Ethics of Accountability, Advocacy, and Competency Essay
Competency will help us create a bridge between us and the community. This will
give us the opportunity to connect our responsibilities of helping the community. The
competency part isn’t about providers of care but also who supports health care which means
supervisors and even housekeeping! This will help us reach one of our goals which is to provide
patient centered care while applying our quality improvement and using evidence-based practice.
This competence can start with the interview process to ensure we are hiring great staff with the
appropriate and valid credentials that are needed. With the Healthcare Administration team doing
analysis on job titles, duties and responsibilities this will help provide a well rounded
understanding of what each position needs to succeed and provide the best care.
Conclusion
The Healthcare Administration team wants you to understand truly how important
your role is in the organization. We urge you to consider your ethical and moral duty of
providing the best care possible to our patients while also considering your coworkers and
organization. Staff are encouraged to provide feedback to the team or supervisor, attend various
