To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing to express my interest in your Clinical Nurse New Grad position. My name
is Brooklyn Maher, and I am a nursing student at the University of Arizona. I would like
to work in a pediatric medical-surgical unit or a pediatric ICU. Over the past two years I
have found an immense passion for pediatrics, and I know that I would make a great
member of the PCH team.

From my time in the University of Arizona Nursing Program, I have had the opportunity
to spend time on the Pediatric Medical-Surgical floor, the Pediatric
Hematology/Oncology floor, the Pediatric ICU, and the NICU at Banner University
Medical Center in Tucson. I have comforted grieving parents, I have held the hand of a
child in pain, and I have seen the power of a kind gesture. Pediatric nurses have a
variety of conditions and age-groups that they see, making the job a continuous learning
experience. Seeing a child heal is one of the most rewarding and inspiring experiences,
and providing a child with care and comfort as they near the end of life is one of the
greatest honors a nurse can have. The job of a pediatric nurse is not always a “happy
job”, but it is one that has infinite meaning to those in need of care.

My interest in working in pediatrics has only grown since I have entered nursing school.
I have seen the resilience and strength that a child has, and I have found myself drawn
to pediatric nursing time and time again. The children I have had the privilege of
working with have taught me the power of play and the importance of joy, even in some
of life’s most difficult moments.

As a Phoenix native, I have driven past PCH countless times in awe, waiting for the day I
could apply to be part of an organization I admire so fully. I hope that you can see how
my education, clinical experience, and passion for pediatrics make me the perfect
candidate for this position.
