COM 201: Communication Media Laws & Ethics

GROUP PRESENTATIONS
The presentations will be done online via Google Meet on our scheduled
class times. A link will be sent to you via Google Classroom and
Messenger. Two groups will present every class session. Presentations
should be between 30 - 40 minutes including discussions, questions &
answers which you and your group members will lead & facilitate. You
may wish to present either in English, Filipino, or both.

Your groups may wish to choose topics on important Media Laws or


Ethics. This activity will form part of your participation, attendance
and recitation marks.

PART 1: IMPORTANT MEDIA LAWS


Instructions:
For those intending to present Media Laws, you will present a
simple case briefing so please follow these steps in preparing your
content:

SIMPLE CASE BRIEFING STEPS
1. Facts: What happened to whom and why are the parties in
court? (Who are the people involved and what happened, i.e.
events that took place) in other words, what’s the story and who
are involved in it?
2. Issue: What is the question or problem or violation that the
parties involved are asking the courts to resolve? In other words,
what law was (allegedly) violated?
3. Holding or Ruling or Decision: What did the court decide?
(Affirmed, Reversed, Remanded)
4. Application of the Law to the facts of the case (also known as
reasoning or rational): Why did the courts decide as it did? What
reasons did they give for the decision including the laws that
apply?
