Course No. and Title: EDUC 210 – The Teacher and the School Curriculum

School Year/ Semester Offered: First Semester, 2022 – 2023

Course Description: CMO No. 75, s. 2017


This course includes the fundamental concepts and principles in curriculum and curriculum development as a
foundation to engage prospective teachers as curricularists. The more active role of the teacher in planning, implementing
and evaluating school-curriculum as well as in managing school curriculum change vis-à-vis various context of teaching-
learning and curricular reforms shall be given emphasis.

Course Credit/ Unit: 3 Units

Course Outcome:
At the end of the course, students must have:
1. demonstrated knowledge of the relationship between educational theory and practice while planning
instruction according to curriculum and community goals
2. demonstrated knowledge of major historical developments in educational thought and practice with respect
to curriculum development
3. examined current curriculum theories, issues and trends as they relate to content, curriculum design and
development
4. identified learning needs according to academic and developmental standards
5. examined curriculum mapping and how it relates to curriculum and lesson planning
6. developed lesson plans and applied curriculum mapping skills that will assist with meeting the academic
and developmental standards to meet the needs of a diverse student population

 The lessons for Units 1-4 will cover to midterm only. You are to answer them according to your schedule in this subject since you
have other subjects to attend to. The same is through with the remaining lessons for finals.
 You are expected to finish the requirements before midterm examination so you can submit them back before you can get the
remaining module for Units 5-8 for the final term. All course requirements should be compiled before the final examination. You can
