Technical data

Target group: Owners, operators

Machine model designation: RS 100

Use for the intended purpose

The RS 100 has been engineered for fast, fine, low-
loss grinding of medium-hard, hard and brittle, and
hard and tough materials in both the wet and the dry
states.
It is particularly suitable for the preparation of the
following materials:
Cement Cement clinker Coal
Coke Corundum Metallic oxides
Minerals Ores Plant specimens
Silicates Slag Soil specimens
and many other materials of similar properties.
Maximum feed grain size will depend on the volume
of the grinding jar and the degree of hardness exhib-
ited by the product being processed.
50 ml grinding set: Max. grain size < 5 mm
100 ml grinding set: Max. grain size < 10 mm
250 ml grinding set: Max. grain size < 15 mm
Our applications laboratory is always available to an-
swer questions and provide additional information.

Motor speeds
Adjustable
50Hz = 700/1400 r.p.m.
60Hz = 830/1700 r.p.m.
1400/1700 r.p.m., not available when using the
agate grinding set

Rated motor power

400/700 watts

Noise levels
Noise measurement as per DIN 45635-31-01, Class 3
The typical noise levels will be influenced crucially by
the grinding set used, the product being pulverised
and the operating speed selected.
Example 1:
Noise level LWA = 67 dB(A)
Workplace related emission value LpEq = 54 dB(A)
Operating parameters:
Grinding set: 100 ml agate
Product: Broken glass, grain size of 0.1 to 12 mm
Speed: 700 r.p.m.
Example 2:
Noise level LWA = 89 dB(A)
Workplace related emission value LpEq = 76 dB(A)
Operating parameters:
Grinding set: 100 ml tungsten carbide
Product: Broken glass, grain size of 0.1 to 12 mm
Speed: 1400 r.p.m.

11.04.2005 3  Retsch GmbH & Co. KG Doc. No. GB 98.724.9998

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
Strong electromagnetic interference fields such as
static discharge near the keyboard or high-frequency
interference in the mains supply can adversely im-
pact the RS 100 control circuitry. Strong static dis-
charge can make it necessary to restart the program.
In the case of high-frequency mains interference, the
RS 100 will return to normal functioning (self-healing
feature) when the interference has been eliminated.

Protection
IP 40

Equipment dimensions (approximate)

Height: 1070 mm Width: 820 mm
to 1690 mm
Depth: 685 mm Weight: 231 kg net
(without grinding
set)

Footprint
820 mm × 685 mm (no safety clearances required)

Grain sizes for feed product

The volume of the specimen and the maximum grain size in
the product being fed determine the size of the grinding set to
be used.
Usable volume Max. product grain size
50 ml 5 mm
100 ml 10 mm
250 ml 15 mm
