Question three: Although slavery was abolished in the 19h century, it remains a pressing human rights
violation in our current times. Please discuss this statement keeping in mind what you learned in
class.
There are many forms and types that can be enlisted under the name of slavery such as; human
trafficking, forced and early marriage, state sponsored forms of exploitation and much more. Until this
day some types of these forms are still happening like human trafficking by using people or recruit
them to labour, forced marriage or removing organs. State sponsored slaver and an important
example of it, is a prison in china called laogai that contains more than a thousand prisoners being
salves to increase the country’s economic. And it shows that 1 in each 4 people are children and three
quarters are women or girls. Talking about Jordan specifically they came up with anti- trafficking law
in 2009 and modified it in 2021. That shows the affect that slavery still until this day and more serious
measures needs to be taken in order to stop it.
