1. Good morning my dear students, I welcome you all for todays new learnings and discoveries.

I am Mam Jerizza
Magne A. Parafina, your science teacher for this day.
2. to start our class, may I request everyone to bow your heads and feel the presence of the Lord through our
audiovisual opening prayer.
3. for this week, the most essential learning competency or melc 30 – suggest ways to minimize human impact on the
environment
4. In this lesson, you will learn more how organisms interact with each other in their environment to meet their basic
needs and survive such as the 1st objective and so on (written in ppt)
5. before we start, let us first understand and remember our house rules – number 1 minimize distractions (don’t do
anything that is not related with our subject, try to focus and enjoy our class) next is (written in the ppt)
6. are you ready? But before that Let me give you a short science fact, did you know that those laundry detergents you
hear advertised have enzymes to remove stains? Some of those enzymes are the same enzymes found in your
digestive system. It is amazing the way your body works and that includes the digestive system. Learning more about it
can actually uncover some fun or atleast interesting facts you may not have known. Many issues you may have with
digestion can be remedied by learning how it works and then avoiding what upsets the balance of your digestive
system. Amazing right? Now lets proceed
7. Previously, you have learned about the flow of energy between organisms that can be should through a food chain or
food webs
8. You have also learned how materials cycle in an ecosystem. WE have the carbon cycle, the nitrogen cycle and the
water cycle.
9. To start with our lesson for today lets use our hands and play put a finger down. (read the ppt and act)
16. To start with, when you hear the word environment, what is the first thing that comes in your mind? Ill give you 15
second to think. Timer starts now.
17. very good class, here are some of the possible answers. (mention some of the words in the ppt)
18. now I want you to think of this, do our activities as a human affects the environment? Why does every human
actions affect the ecosystem?
19. But first… what is an ecosystem?
20. (define the meaning the ppt first )
21. some of the human activities include agriculture, industry, fishing, mining negatively affect the ecosystem especially
when performed in an excessive and unsustainable way
22. global warming
23. such as the melting of the ice which greatly affect the habitat of a polar bear
24. pollution
25. extinction are some of the consequences of such human behaviour
26. humans are the top consumer in many food pyramids. To increase food production, they use methods that affects
the food chain and food web
27. some of the ….. (read the ppt)
28. 1st method is monoculture, do you have any idea of it? This word came from the words mono which means 1 - so
definitely only one type of crop.
29. (read the ppt) usually, vast tracks of land are converted into rice farms, sugar farms and coconut farm
30. This picture is an example of it. As you can see, it is a rice field.
31. By limiting the cultivation of diffent kinds of plant, people also deprived many animals of their food and homes.
These animals, some of which that fed on insect pest move to other places, only the insect pest that eat the monocrop
remain in the area, if uncontrolled, these pests can wipe out the monocrop in a short time.
32. Some soil microorganisms depend on some plants for foods. Eliminating these plants is harmful with the
microorganisms since microorganisms are responsible for returning plant nutrients to the soil, the cycle of nutrients for
the use of the plants is disturbed.
33. number 2 is the used of herbicides and insecticides. Have you ever seen a herbicide and insecticide?
34. farmers spray their crops with…. (read the ppt) however the chemicals also destroy other organisms including
beneficial insects and soil organisms which help in decaying.
35. insecticides move up in the food pyramid and accumulate in the body of organism. The smallest concentration of the
chemical is at the based of the pyramid occupied by the producer. The amount increases toward the top.
36. the greatest concentration is found at the top consumers such as birds, mammals and humans.
37. many insect pest become resistant to chemicals, this may lead to the increased amount used of insecticides.
38. last, is the use of chemical fertilizers. Have you ever used fertilizers in growing your plants?
39. this picture is an example of using chemical fertilizers.
40. (read the ppt) continuous and uncontrolled used of chemical fertilizers may increase soil acidity thus destroying soild
structure. Findings show that the more fertilizers are needed in the same amount of yield after years of monoculture
41. fertlizers may run off to the rivers, ponds and lakes,
42. accumulation of chemical fertilizers may cause the death of these bodies of water.
43. fertlizers in the water, may cause increased amount of algae and other water plants, they cover the ewater surface
and block the passage of oxygen, thus less oxygen is dissolve in water. Furthermore, when algae and aquatic plants
die, decay microorganisms use oxygen, undissolved oxygen becomes insufficient causing fish and other aquatic
organisms to die.
45. We humans are very dependent in our environment in order to survive and live. We spent most of our life consuming
what is available in our ecosystem. So the question is, Are humans capable of conserving the environment? How can
we conserve the environment?
46. some of the desirable practices include – 1 is (read the ppt)
47. read the ppt
48. read the ppt
Human intervention has had a range of effect on natural biodiversity. Agriculture has expanded into environmentally
sensitive regions.
62. for our next activity, it is entitle predict the consequences. The videos that you have watched are some of the
disasters that we are experiencing these days. From the situations mentioned, connect these from its consequences.
65. well done my dear students, now for the assimilation part, this is entitled “ my vision my future”.
