The role of the teacher in learning

Teachers are the determining factor in the success of a quality learning


process. So that the success or failure of education to achieve its goals is
always related to the work of teachers. Therefore, efforts made in improving
the quality of education should start from improving the quality of teachers.
Qualified teachers include knowing and understanding their roles and functions
in the learning process.

Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers defines teachers as
professional educators who have the main task of educating, teaching, guiding,
directing, training, assessing and evaluating students in early childhood
education through formal channels of primary and secondary education.

The role of students in receiving lessons according to learning


in this case students must be involved in the learning process, in this case
they must play an active role in the learning and teaching process.

According to Dimjati and Mudjiono (1994: 56-60), student activeness can be


encouraged by the role of the teacher. Teachers strive to provide
opportunities for students to be active, both actively seeking, processing and
managing their learning gains.

To be able to increase student involvement in the teaching and learning


process, teachers can do so by; direct involvement of students both
individually and in groups; creating opportunities that encourage students to
conduct experiments, efforts to include students or give assignments to
students to obtain information from sources outside the classroom or school
and efforts to involve students in summarizing or concluding learning
messages.

As for student involvement is influenced Internal factors include physical


factors, motivation in learning, interest in the activities provided,
intelligence and so on.by two factors, namely internal and external. While
external factors include teachers, learning materials, media, time allocation,
facilities and so on.
