KAP study regarding prevalence of vitamin b6 deficiency and impact of vitamin b6 on

COVID-19 patients

ABSTRACT:

The purpose of our study will be to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices in infected
COVID-19 patients regarding the impact of Vitamin B6 deficiency during COVID-19 in
Pakistani Population and to suggest supplementation of Vitamin B6. Close-ended
questionnaire will be used to record information and responses to assess knowledge, attitude,
and practice about the deficiency of Vit B6 and how vit B6 deficiency is related to covid-19
and other comorbidities such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and hypertension.Vitamin
b6 deficiency show symptoms that very much resembles to COVID-19 symptoms such as
fatigue, numbness in hands, body ache, respiratory distress. Vitamin b6 is water-soluble
vitamin in body. Pyridoxol-5-phosphate is an inactive form of pyridoxine. It is inversely
related to plasma IL-6 and TNF alpha in chronic inflammatory conditions. PLP depletion
occurs as a result of increased PLP usage during inflammation, suggesting that COVID-19
patients with high inflammation may have a deficiency of vitamin B6. Patients with type 2
diabetes, hypertension and cardiac diseases are found to have low PLP levels.COVID-19
patients frequently establish an overactive T-cell response and secrete proinflammatory
cytokines in response to the virus, therefore, COVID-19 patients are found to have
dysregulated immune response and a high risk of coagulopathy. By controlling
immunological responses, lowering pro-inflammatory cytokines, maintaining endothelium
integrity, and limiting hypercoagulability, PLP supplements helps to alleviate COVID-19
symptoms. It is possible that PLP can help to reduce the cytokine storm and inflammation
that certain COVID-19 patients experience. By using SPSS version 23 we will be calculating
significant values 0.05 equal and less than 0.05.
