Course objectives:

This course aims to equip students with an appropriate legal basis essential to successful participation in
business life and to provide an insight into relevant legal practices in light of business laws.
The first part of the course approaches the law involving the business sector from legal and economics
perspectives. Within this framework the course discusses details of economic legislation and the
hierarchy of norms, system of judicial protection as well as the main constitutional guarantees impacting
the business environment.
The second - and more extensive – part of the course discusses the private sphere of business with a
special emphasis on the establishment and operation of companies and addresses the most important
rules concerning the preparation, negotiation and interpretation of business contracts.
The last part is dealing with business related public policy issues like consumer protection law,
competition law, business crimes, financial reorganisation.

Assessment and grading


Attendance:
Students are not required to attend classes, but presence and active participation is advisable.

Tests and final examination:


The course is assessed by an individual written final examination.
During the semester two optional tests will be conducted, both for max. 50 marks. Successful
completion of the tests can result a recommended grade. If one of the tests was not completed, or
the aggregate mark of the two tests is less than 51, or the recommended grade is not accepted by
the student, the final grade must be earned by the final examination administered during the
exam period.
All tests and the final examination will be conducted online. The questions will assess the student’s
knowledge and understanding of the course material.
Grades:
0-50: 1 (fail)
51-64: 2 (pass)
65-74: 3 (satisfactory)
75-84: 4 (good)
85-100: 5 (excellent)
