1. How do you feel while you were doing the checklist?
Answering the activity felt enlightening for I do not usually ponder
on most of the events that brought me stress. Upon doing the checklist, I was able to identify the positive and negative stressors that have affected me in the past and also those that are affecting me in the present. It helped me recognize how much I was affected by the stressors and it helped me realize that knowing the sources of my stress can be of help. So now that I have been made aware of them, I believe they will be easier for me to avoid or to deal with. In conclusion, answering the checklist has been immensely beneficial for me and I believe that it would be too for the others.
2. Is the result near to your present perceived stress level? How do you feel with the result?
The result of the checklist is a little distant to my present perceived
level of stress. I think that the result is accurate for I truly have experienced so much stress during the periods when those life events happened. Seeing the result has left me thinking of how I dealt with them at those times and if I coped well. It also made me think if the coping mechanisms I have used will be effective for the stress I am facing now.
3. How do these identified life events affect your life now?
Those identified life events have both impacted my life in a positive
and negative way. Positive for I was able to learn and grow from those experiences, and negative for some of those events, albeit have been resolved, still left a bad taste in my mouth. Presently, I have been trying my best to stay away or avoid the causes of my distress so I can focus and function well.
4. What is your perception about stress and self-care?
Stress is something that is inevitable. It may affect a person either positively or negatively. If it affects a person negatively, it should be immediately addressed as it could result in serious problems. It is crucial to learn how to handle and cope with stress for it cannot be avoided and will constantly test a person. However, stress can be lessened if there is self care. Self care helps a person to become more resistant and resilient to stress. So it is important for a person to prioritize caring for themselves and try to put it into practice.
