Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan antara
work family conflict dengan psychological well being pada wanita di generasi
sandwich yang bekerja di kota Surabaya. Hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian
ini, yaitu terdapat hubungan antara work family conflict dengan psychological well
being pada wanita di generasi sandwich yang bekerja di kota Surabaya. Sampel
penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 78 wanita yang
bekerja di kota Surabaya yang kini masih membiayai secara finansial keluarga
maupun orang tua mereka (generasi sandwich). Pengumpulan data yang digunakan
dalam penelitian ini menggunakan skala work family conflict yang dikembangkan
oleh Carlson (2000) dengan 24 item yang memuat 3 aspek (time based conflict, strain
based conflict dan behavior based conflict), masing-masing dimensi memiliki dua
arah yaitu work interference with family (WIF) dan family interference with work
(FIW) dan skala psychological well-being yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti
berdasarkan teori dari Ryff (1989) dengan 36 item yang memuat 6 aspek (Self-
Acceptance, Positive Relations to Other, Autonomy, Environmental Mastery, Purpose
in Life, Personal Growth). Metode analisis data menggunakan Analisis Korelasi
Product Moment. Hasil analisis data diperoleh taraf signifikansi 0,026 dan nilai
koefisien korelasi rxy = -0,252. Hal itu menunjukan adanya hubungan negatif antara
antara work family conflict dengan psychological well being yang memiliki arti
bahwa ketika work family conflict tinggi maka psychological well being rendah.
Begitupun sebaliknya, apabila work family conflict rendah maka psychological well
being tinggi.

CORRELATION OF WORK FAMILY CONFLICT AND PSYCHOLOGICAL


WELL BEING ON WOMEN IN THE SANDWICH GENERATION WHO ARE
WORKING IN SURABAYA

This study aims to analyze correlation of work family conflict and psychological
well being in women in the sandwich generation who are working in Surabaya. The
hypothesis in this stud was that there was a correlation among work family conflict
and psychological well being on women in the sandwich generation who are working
in Surabaya. The research sample used in this study were 78 women who work in
Surabaya who are still financially supporting their families and parents (sandwich
generation). Data collection used in this study used the work family conflict scale
developed by Carlson (2000) with 24 items containing 3 aspects (time based conflict,
strain based conflict and behavior based conflict), Every type of work family conflict
is bidirectional. The directions are work interference with family (WIF) and family
interference with work (FIW) and the psychological well-being scale developed by
the researcher based on theory from Ryff (1989) with 36 items containing 6 aspects
(Self-Acceptance, Positive Relations to Other, Autonomy, Environmental Mastery,
Purpose in Life, Personal Growth). The data analysis method uses Product Moment
Correlation Analysis. The results of data analysis obtained a significance level of
0.026 and the value of the correlation coefficient rxy = -0.252. This shows a negative
relationship between work family conflict and psychological well being, which means
that when work family conflict is high, psychological well being is low. On the other
hand, if the work family conflict is low, the psychological well being is high.
