Letter to the Editor Criteria

Students should use the following checklist to critique letters:

1. Is the letter written in paragraphs?

2. Is the subject stated clearly in the first one or two sentences?
3. Is each point that is made supported by a relevant detail or example?
4. Are there any irrelevant points or details?
5. Is the language of the letter suitable for Tearaway magazine?
6. Is the letter written accurately?
7. Is the writer stating a clear point of view?
8. Is the letter interesting?
